FOOD WASTE

Nowadays people waste a lot of food that was bought from shops and restaurants.
Why do you think people waste food? What can be done to reduce the amount of
food they throw away?
Essay:

These days, many people do not eat all the food they buy from supermarkets or order in
restaurants. This tendency happens because of some reasons, and this essay will suggest
some viable solutions to this problem.

There are some factors that cause the habit of wasting food. Firstly, because life is getting
increasingly hectic, individuals are reluctant to do grocery shopping often, and when they
do, they buy a tremendous amount of food to store in their refrigerators. However, the
quality of this food deteriorates after a few days or a week, and it will get thrown away.
Secondly, when people dine in restaurants, they are usually presented with many
attractive options of fancy food. Therefore, they tend to order more than they can eat,
which results in leftovers that will later be disposed of.

Some measures could be proposed in an attempt to tackle this situation. The first one is
for individuals to do their shopping more frequently, and they should only bring home
smaller amounts of food that can last one or two days instead of buying in bulk. This
allows them to stop wasting food, which also means they save more money. Another
solution is for restaurants to impose a small fine for customers who waste food. This
requires diners to make reasonable orders, and the level of leftovers being thrown away
will be minimised.

In conclusion, food is currently wasted because people make excessive purchases in

grocery stores and they order too much when they eat out. To address this, individuals
should be encouraged to buy less every time they shop, and restaurants should also
charge those who do not finish their meals.
NEWSPAPER AND MEDIA
QUESTION:

Some say that news has no connection with most people’s life and it is a waste of
time for most of us to read newspapers and watch television news programs. To
what extent do you agree or disagree?
FULL ESSAY:

It is claimed that news is not linked to one’s daily life, and therefore attention should not
be paid to newspapers or news channels on television. Personally, I partly agree with this
idea. In my opinion, while certain kinds of news are useless, there are also crucial pieces
of news worth following.

On the one hand, several categories of news are simply a waste of time. The first one is
updates about celebrities’ life stories, such as who they are dating or where they are
spending their holidays. Although these kinds of information do not bring any values to a
person, sadly, many young individuals spend more time following them than they should.
Additionally, the audience tends to be attracted to shocking stories happening around the
world, such as brutal murders or tragic accidents. These stories are irrelevant to people’s
lives, and I believe they do not deserve to be given coverage in the press.

Nevertheless, some pieces of information could be necessary. Most importantly, people

need to be aware of the serious issues currently taking place in their local area. For
instance, residents need to be informed of new contagious diseases or rising cases of
crime where they live, which helps them find ways to protect themselves and their
families. Furthermore, a person should also follow news and updates related to their
profession. For example, doctors have to keep track of the latest innovations in medicines
or cures for health issues. Thus, these pieces of news are essential and should receive
attention.

In conclusion, although news about famous people or shocking incidents in other parts of
the globe can be considered time-wasting, other updates related to one’s career and
problems in their local area are vital. In my view, people should be selective about which
news to follow when they read newspapers or watch television.
The media should include more stories which report good news. To what extent do
you agree or disagree?
Bài viết:

Many people contend that the media should attempt to convey more positive news to
their audience. While I accept that delivering good news is beneficial, I believe there
should be a balance between positive and negative information being shown on TV or
other channels.

On the one hand, it is imperative to bring good news to viewers. Firstly, when receiving
more positive information during the day, people can become more optimistic in their
life. This improves their overall well-being, and they can enjoy their life more and have
greater motivation for working or studying. Secondly, when the media reports news about
good citizens who have accomplished something useful for the community, others will be
stimulated to take the same action. For example, during the Covid-19 pandemic when
many residents lost their income, a group of volunteers in Hanoi launched a campaign in
which food and clothing were sent to needy people in deprived areas. This campaign was
promoted widely on TV, which encouraged many other individuals to donate their
money.

On the other hand, I believe the transmission of negative news is equally important. The
first reason is that residents need to be aware of the threats going on around them, and
they can therefore find ways to protect themselves and their families. For instance, when
there is news about an accelerating number of cases of kidnapping in the area, parents
will need to supervise their children more carefully when going out. Additionally, it is
necessary for residents to acknowledge that there are still many acute problems such as
pollution or corruption that need to be addressed, and they, as individuals, need to take
drastic actions to mitigate these issues. If good news is dominant on the media, people
may have a false belief that they do not need to do anything to improve the situation.

In conclusion, I believe that positive and negative pieces of news are equally crucial, and
therefore they should share similar amounts of time on the media.

WORK
Đề bài:

Some people think that people who choose a job early and keep doing it are more
likely to get a satisfying career life than those who frequently change jobs. To what
extent do you agree or disagree?
Essay:

People have different views about whether they should switch jobs regularly or stick to
the same occupation. While it is true that having the same job for years is beneficial for
workers to some extent, I would argue that those who frequently try different careers tend
to be more satisfied and happier at work.

On the one hand, there are several advantages of having only one job for a long period of
time. Firstly, as employees work with the same colleagues and in an unchanged
environment, they can feel comfortable and are less likely to suffer from stress. By
contrast, if they change their jobs too often, trying to adapt to a new workplace could be a
challenging experience. Secondly, when workers are responsible for the same tasks, they
gradually gain more experience and sharpen their skills at work. This helps them to be
increasingly competent over the years. For example, people who stay in one area can
learn from their mistakes, enhance productivity and move up the career ladder.

On the other hand, I believe it is important for workers to experience several occupations.
The first reason is that not everyone knows exactly what career they want to pursue
immediately after graduating from universities, and young people need to try various jobs
to recognise their passion. For instance, when a teacher realises that she does not love
teaching, it is advisable to quit her job and look for another. Additionally, moving
between jobs allows individuals to constantly find new challenges and learn how to get
used to different kinds of environment, which makes working more exciting for them. By
contrast, if workers just stay with one job for a long time, they might feel bored due to
too much repetition at work.

In conclusion, while it can be beneficial to select a job and stay with it, I believe
switching occupations tends to bring more satisfaction for employees.

Education
Studying abroad

1. When people study abroad, they can be more fluent in a foreign language.

2. When people study abroad, they have to communicate with foreigners every day. As a
result, they can be more fluent in a foreign language.

3. When people study abroad, they have to communicate with foreigners every day. For
example, when going to a store to buy food, they need to speak to the shop assistant. As a
result, they can be more fluent in a foreign language.

4. When people study abroad in another country, they usually have to communicate with
foreigners from different parts of the world every day. For example, when going to a
store to buy food, they need to speak to the shop assistant. This allows them to become
more fluent and proficient in a foreign language than those who only study in their home
countries.
TECHNOLOGY
Đề bài:

It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment,
such as the South Pole. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the
disadvantages?
As technology has developed, people can now travel to remote natural areas. Both the
advantages and disadvantages of this trend will be thoroughly discussed in this essay.

On the one hand, visiting isolated natural places has some benefits. Firstly, this is a newer
and more interesting type of travelling. Going to other cities or countries has been too
common for most people, so it might be more exciting for them to explore new places
such as the South Pole or the Amazon rainforest. This gives them valuable experiences
and unforgettable memories. Secondly, when visiting remote areas, people, especially
scientists, might acquire more knowledge about the natural habitat. For example, when
coming to the North Pole, scientists can learn about the life of polar bears which live far
away from humans.

On the other hand, I believe there are some drawbacks of this development. The first one
is that travelling to remote natural areas can be risky if the travellers are not sufficiently
prepared. For instance, the temperature at the South Pole is usually very low, which
adversely affects people's health. Travelling to forests can also be dangerous as people
have to face the risk of being attacked by animals. Also, since visiting isolated places
often requires a large amount of investment in researching and ensuring the safety of
travellers, the costs of travelling tend to be high. Therefore, it seems like only scientists
and rich people can afford this activity, so this development is likely to benefit only a
small group of individuals.

In conclusion, I believe the disadvantages of people being able to travel to remote areas
outweigh its advantages, and this is a negative development.
