5.1 Conclusions
Reshun village is located in the north of main town Chitral at a distance of 55km between 36.917N,
longitude 72,67E. Reshun village in district chitral was my research area. The recent

Flood in last July 2015 was badly affect this beautiful region, so my research topic was “The role of
overgrazing in vulnerability”. According to my research studies it come in to notice that overgrazing is
a main reason for disaster in that area. According to

Research most of the people income source is depend on cattle’s rearing round about 30% cattle’s in
Reshun village and due to rearing of these cattle’s the area faced a lot of problem like flash flood, land
sliding these disasters all sector of livelihood in that area. Overgrazing leads to an increase of soil
compaction and soil crust compaction and soil crust formation and a decrease of biotic crust and
perennial grass cover (Muir 2010).Overgrazing is caused by having too many animals on grazing land
or by not properly controlling grazing activity of the animals. Overgrazing has negative impact on
land.

The study reveals that most of the respondents have lack of basic education regarding overgrazing.
The study also reveals that there is no proper legislation regarding land use to stop rearing of cattle’s.
The study further disclosed that there was a conflict between two groups one ware in favor of rearing
of cattle’s while the other group was in opposition of it. This delegation leads to a court and the court
dissolve the case in that group which were not in favor of rearing of cattle’s (July 17, 2014). I
personally interviewed the people of my study area about overgrazing which is also a part of my
research in audio form. The concern organization of FOCUS, and local government also help me in
regards of report.

5.2 Recommendations
Firstly the government sector should have to handle this problem to aware people about negative
consequences of overgrazing. Those peoples should be trained according to their abilities in small
business sector, professional sector, agriculture sector( plantation) so that their economy would be in
these sector in spiting of rearing cattle’s here and there. Secondly the NGOs should have to keen
observation on this events and have to play their role to overcome these problems. The local
community should have a seasonal plantation in their areas so that there will be a positive impact upon
this events. This area annually suffer from land sliding and Flood disaster. There should be certain
resources available to them. The provisional government is responsible to provide required
equipment’s and logistic support and also provide required funds and trained man power for the
elimination of major constrain of concerned department . The law passed by the government not to
rear more than 3 cattle should be implemented and exercise practically.
