Sound
How Do We Hear

Hearing Sounds
Our ears help us to hear sounds. Sound from our surroundings enter our ears and are then passed to our brain.

Taking Care of Our Ears

If any part of the ear, especially the eardrum, is damaged, a person’s ability to hear may be affected temporarily or permanently. In cases of severe
damage, a person may completely lose the ability to hear and become deaf.

We can take care of our ears in the following ways.

1. Avoid loud noises: Avoid listening to loud music for a long time or being in places where there is a lot of loud noise. High sound levels can
damage the ears.
2. Use earplugs: use earplugs in places with very loud noise levels to reduce the level and intensity of sound reaching the ears.
3. Don not use sharp objects to clean ears: Putting sharp things such as needles into the ears can harm the delicate parts of the ears.
4. Keep the ears dry: Water can enter the ears during swimming or taking a bath. Moisture can promote the growth of bacteria in the ears. If water
penetrates inside the ear, tilt the head to the side and shake the ear slightly to get the water out.
