Today I will discuss the relationship between science, technology and society.
To find out the proper relation between science, technology and society, one must
have a clear understanding about each of them first.
The influence of technology in our society is very profound. Jobs that revolve
around computers, electricity, and many others would have not existed if not for
technology. Technology made our jobs easier. Technology saves time, effort and
resources. I’d like to point out a personal experience. I work for a land surveying
company. Because of technology we’re able to complete projects accurately and
efficiently. Flashback to year 1990’s wherein land surveying is done manually with
the use of different types of measuring tools, but today, we use an RTK-GPS
equipment that would allow us to connect the device to a satellite which greatly
helps in taking accurate measurements in a faster way.
Social media, one of the most important platforms of recent times, wouldn't be made
possible without the help of technology. Societies are greatly influenced by social
media. Take for example, in our current situation wherein we’re in the middle of a
pandemic, do you think that if not for social media we would survive the chaos? The
pandemic is a major problem in the world today. Because of the pandemic people’s
lives are devastated. But because of modern technology, we’re still able to work,
study and continue our lives in the new normal way. Social media has helped the
government reach the public. Social media has become a platform for education. The
gadgets, the computers and the cell phones that we use become very important tools
to pursue our studies, research activities and assignments at the comforts of our
homes. Away and safe from the threat of the circulating virus. Social media has
bridged lives from all over the world. We’re now able to communicate with our loved
ones from anywhere in the world - in real-time.
Thank you!
