It was a scrape that he hardly noticed.

Sure, there was a bit of blood but it was

minor compared to most of the other cuts and bruises he acquired on his adventures.
There was no way he could know that the rock that produced the cut had alien
genetic material on it that was now racing through his bloodstream. He felt
perfectly normal and continued his adventure with no knowledge of what was about to
happen to him.
Stranded. Yes, she was now the first person ever to land on Venus, but that was of
little consequence. Her name would be read by millions in school as the first to
land here, but that celebrity would never actually be seen by her. She looked at
the control panel and knew there was nothing that would ever get it back into
working order. She was the first and it was not clear this would also be her last.
MaryLou wore the tiara with pride. There was something that made doing anything she
didn't really want to do a bit easier when she wore it. She really didn't care what
those staring through the window were thinking as she vacuumed her apartment.
"It's never good to give them details," Janice told her sister. "Always be a little
vague and keep them guessing." Her sister listened intently and nodded in
agreement. She didn't fully understand what her sister was saying but that didn't
matter. She loved her so much that she would have agreed to whatever came out of
her mouth.
The rain and wind abruptly stopped, but the sky still had the gray swirls of storms
in the distance. Dave knew this feeling all too well. The calm before the storm. He
only had a limited amount of time before all Hell broke loose, but he stopped to
admire the calmness. Maybe it would be different this time, he thought, with the
knowledge deep within that it wouldn't.
The trail to the left had a "Danger! Do Not Pass" sign telling people to take the
trail to the right. This wasn't the way Zeke approached his hiking. Rather than a
warning, Zeke read the sign as an invitation to explore an area that would be
adventurous and exciting. As the others in the group all shited to the right, Zeke
slipped past the danger sign to begin an adventure he would later regret.
At that moment he had a thought that he'd never imagine he'd consider. "I could
just cheat," he thought, "and that would solve the problem." He tried to move on
from the thought but it was persistent. It didn't want to go away and, if he was
honest with himself, he didn't want it to.
The wave crashed and hit the sandcastle head-on. The sandcastle began to melt under
the waves force and as the wave receded, half the sandcastle was gone. The next
wave hit, not quite as strong, but still managed to cover the remains of the
sandcastle and take more of it away. The third wave, a big one, crashed over the
sandcastle completely covering and engulfing it. When it receded, there was no
trace the sandcastle ever existed and hours of hard work disappeared forever.
The song came from the bathroom belting over the sound of the shower's running
water. It was the same way each day began since he could remember. It listened
intently and concluded that the singing today was as terrible as it had ever been.
Sometimes it's just better not to be seen. That's how Harry had always lived his
life. He prided himself as being the fly on the wall and the fae that blended into
the crowd. That's why he was so shocked that she noticed him.
