Filling Out An Application

Lesson Plan

Reviewing Vocabulary

I will read the word and the meaning as well as the sentence I wrote. Students will then
say the word, its meaning and their own sentence. Perhaps their sentences could be
written before the lesson in fact I strongly recommend it.

Pre Reading

Students will read a paragraph each from the Pre Reading on why we need to fill out
applications.

B) Vocabulary Preview (I will say the word and then each student will say the
word)

drivers’ licence, birth certificate, identification, proof, library, immigrant,

counter, estimate, clearly, designated.

Each student will the vocabulary words after I have said them.

Dialogue Reading (page 2)

Students will choose a partner and read the dialogue. One student will read the clerk
and the other student the new resident role.

Listening Practice (page 4)

After the reading of the dialogue students will then have to fill in the missing words
from the dialogue on page 2.

Review (page 6)

Task 1

Listen & Answer

After reading the dialogue students have to answer the 5 questions.

Students need to remember to use full sentences in their answers focussing on

correct punctuation and grammar.

The language of forms

The students will match the word or abbreviation (short form of a word) to its meaning.
We will then correct this activity.
Completing a form (Skillswise)

This form will be completed in class. Students will need to read the form and answer
the questions using their personal details. I will read the instructions from the top of
the form and give them time in class to complete it.

Homework

Template – Job Application Form

A template is a sample and this form is similar to what you might fill out when applying
for a job. The important thing to remember when filling out forms either by
handwriting or online is that all your details are correct and that you answer all the
required questions.

Please do this as homework and I want you to let me know when it is completed.
You can send a message on our Messenger page. If you have any problems
understanding the questions, then please ask me.
