Pre-Task: 50 pints

Tell something about the present swimming program of our country and the
present standing, achievements of our Team Philippines in different swimming
competitions local and international.
The PSI worked together with Vince Dizon, Bases Conversion and Development
Authority President, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Butch Ramirez, and Philippine
Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino in gaining the IATF approval. It is also
expanding its membership base and reiterating its call for individuals and groups to come
together under the ASAP banner. All local swim coaches and instructors are being educated and
certified to improve the quality of coaching in the Philippines. In order to qualify for the several
levels of certification, persons involved in coaching will have to pass a series of tests.

Currently, the ASAP leadership is committed to a good governance policy and will be
transparent in all of its dealings, concealing nothing and simply striving to improve swimming in
the country.

With the honor that swimmers have brought to our country, makes me proud as a
fellow countrymen. As of now, A ticket to Japan was booked through universality places for
Remedy Rule, the only female swimmer from the Philippines. On June 20, she was the top
female swimmer in the Philippines with 830 FINA ranking points. At the Tokyo Olympics, she
will compete in the 200m butterfly event. In 2019, she won two silvers and two bronze medals
in the Southeast Asian Games.

The preparation for Olympic swimmers is much more than just practicing in the water.
Perhaps I have overlooked swimming for a while because it may not seem like a challenging
sport, swimmers take part in strength and conditioning sessions, follow specific nutritional
guidelines and be prepared mentally for competing against the world’s best in the sport.
However at the beginning or Olympic level it is very physically demanding and competitive.
