ORAL MEDIATION: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BUILDING

You have to give an oral presentation on the most beautiful building you’ve ever
visited in your English class. You are able to have the following script to help
you remember the most relevant information. Speak for about 1 minute.

THE HAGIA SOPHIA

●Name. Where?: the Hagia Sophia, in Sultanahmet, Istanbul.


●Who? When?: Justinian I, emperor of Rome (527-565 AD). On the spot
where two other churches had burned down. Started in 532, finished in 537.
●Features inside and outside: OUTSIDE: large dome, four minarets, lovely
park in front. INSIDE: mosaics on the walls (2nd floor), column with a hole
(Wishing Column).
●Timetable and price: 9.00 am-5.00 pm (7.00pm in summer). Adults: 60
Turkish lira (about €10). Children under 8: free
