What I Have Learned

a. What are the different number systems?
 The different number systems are the binary number system, octal number system, decimal
number system, and hexadecimal number system.
b. How do we convert binary to decimal ang vice versa?
 To convert decimal number to binary number, we need to continually divide the decimal number by
2 while keeping track of the result and the remainder of either 1 or 0 until the final result is 0. We
also need to take note that the first remainder will be the least significant bit (LSB) and the last
remainder will be the most significant bit (MSB). Lastly, all the remainders should be written from
the most significant bit to the least significant bit; this will be the answer (binary number). On the
other hand, to convert binary number to decimal number, we need to start from the left-most digit or
the MSB. We will multiply the MSB by 2 and add the second left-most or the next bit, store it as
current result, then multiplying again the current result by 2 and add the next bit, then multiplying it
again by 2, and so on. This process will continue until the addition of the right-most bit or the LSB.
c. What is the importance of binary numbers?
 Binary numbers are important because they simplify the design of computers and related
technologies. Computers need many transistors to accomplish their tasks, but because of binary
numbers, it became easier and less expensive; it only needs the least amount of necessary
circuitry, which results in the least amount of space, energy consumption, and cost. It also provides
safety for reliability.

What I Can Do
a. What is the importance of binary numbers?
 Binary numbers are important because they simplify the design of computers and related
technologies. The use of binary numbers increased the expressive power of the binary circuits that
cut down the cost of a computer and made a more powerful computer for the same amount of
money. Also, the use of binary numbers maximizes the expressive power of binary circuits.
b. How can we relate our lesson to other fields like agriculture and mathematics?
 In agriculture, number systems, such as binary, hexadecimal, and octal, are typically used in
automation equipment which helps make farms more efficient. While in mathematics, number
systems provide a unique representation of every number and represent the arithmetic and
algebraic structure of figures.
