SECTION 10 - HORIZONTAL STABILIZER

DESCRIPTION
The Tail Plane has been designed to generate a down lift to equalise the helicopter pitch attitude.
In high speed forward flight conditions the nose down pitch attitude is given by:

• The control moment generated by the main rotor.

• The aerodynamic moment due to the horizontal main rotor thrust applied at the rotor head while the fuselage drag applied
near the centre of gravity of the rotorcraft.

The main rotor swirl generates up wash on left side and downwash on right side.
The left wing of tail plane has less pitch while the right wing of tail plane has more pitch; in this way the aerodynamic incidence is
the same for the two wings and then the aerodynamic forces will be the same.

MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

• Check free play of the tail plane.

• Visually inspect elastomeric bushings for rubber extrusion.
