States needed freedom. Their independence from the monarchy of the great British
power and its repeated wounds and usurpation. The declaration of independence
signed in August 2, 1776 articulated principles that are still vital markers of American
ideals.
Even tough they already obtained freedom from Britain monarchy, it does not mean that the
the United States continues to be equal or more relevant than in those times because
thanks to it Americans live and have all this freedom, although it did not initially lead
to equality for all, it provided and inspiring start on working toward equality.
When the declaration was written, these ideas were radicals. The American colonies had been at
war with Great Britain for over a year when the document was signed. The damages that
came from the war critically broadened the non- completion between the colonies and the
mother country; additionally, it was necessary to affirm independence in order to protect as
much French support as possible.

independence. They realized that at the time, England was more powerful than Spain,
and if the Americans had managed to get rid of them, it would be easier for South
American people not only fought for their independence, they did for human equality and
helped most Latin Americans to reach their own independence and freedom.
