THE ANALYSIS OF PSYCHE

Introduction

Psychoanalytic theory is the theory of personality organization and the dynamics of personality
development that guides psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology. First laid out
by Sigmund Freud in the late 19th century, psychoanalytic theory has undergone many refinements
since his work. Psychoanalytic theory came to full prominence in the last third of the twentieth century
as part of the flow of critical discourse regarding psychological treatments after the 1960s, long after
Freud's death in 1939.

Freud had ceased his analysis of the brain and his physiological studies and shifted his focus to the
study of the mind and the related psychological attributes making up the mind, and on treatment using
free association and the phenomena of transference. His study emphasized the recognition of
childhood events that could influence the mental functioning of adults. His examination of the genetic
and then the developmental aspects gave the psychoanalytic theory its characteristics. Starting with his
publication of The Interpretation of Dreams in 1899, his theories began to gain prominence.

Psychoanalytic and psychoanalytical are used in English. The latter is the older term, and at first
simply meant 'relating to the analysis of the human psyche'. But with the emergence of psychoanalysis
as a distinct clinical practice, both terms came to describe that. Although both are still used, today, the
normal adjective is psychoanalytic.

A therapeutic method, originated by Sigmund Freud, for treating mental disorders by investigating the
interaction of conscious and unconscious elements in the patient's mind and bringing repressed fears
and conflicts into the conscious mind, using techniques such as dream interpretation and free
association. Also, a system of psychological theory associated with this method.
Through the scope of a psychoanalytic lens, humans are described as having sexual and aggressive
drives. Psychoanalytic theorists believe that human behavior is deterministic. It is governed by
irrational forces, and the unconscious, as well as instinctual and biological drives. Due to this
deterministic nature, psychoanalytic theorists do not believe in free will.

Personality Structure

Sigmund Freud maintained that the personality consists of three different elements, the id, the
ego and the superego. The id is the aspect of personality that is driven by internal and basic drives and
needs. These are typically instinctual, such as hunger, thirst, and the drive for sex, or libido. The id is
also the unconscious and stems from our instinctive abilities. The id acts in accordance with the
pleasure principle, in that it avoids pain and seeks pleasure. Due to the instinctual quality of the id, it is
impulsive and often unaware of implications of actions.

The ego is driven by the reality principle. The ego works to balance the id and superego, by trying to
achieve the id's drive in the most realistic ways. It seeks to rationalize the id's instinct and please the
drives that benefit the individual in the long term. It helps separate what is real, and realistic of our
drives as well as being realistic about the standards that the superego sets for the individual.
Additionally, the Ego is how we view ourself. This is conscious, but not always true. For example,
someone could believe they are the best-looking person in the world, however this is just an opinion
they have and not everyone will agree with that belief.

The superego is driven by the morality principle. It acts in connection with the morality of higher
thought and action. Instead of instinctively acting like the id, the superego works to act in socially
acceptable ways. It employs morality, judging our sense of wrong and right and using guilt to
encourage socially acceptable behavior. Furthermore, the Superego comes from the people around us.
They affect what we believe in and how we view things, so this can be different depending on how
you were raised and the culture you were around. The Superego is also responsible for finding the
happy medium between the Id and Ego. The Id can sometimes be overly dominant when there are
humanistic urges. The Ego can be very unrealistic in terms of how we view ourselves.
Three Concept of Psychoanalytic Theory

Perhaps Freud's single most enduring and important idea was that the human psyche has more than
one aspect.

Freud's personality theory (1923) saw the psyche structured into three parts, the id, ego and superego,
all developing at different stages in our lives. These are systems, not parts of the brain, or in any way
physical.

According to Freud psychoanalytic theory, the id is the primitive and instinctual part of the mind that
contains sexual and aggressive drives and hidden memories, the super-ego operates as a moral
conscience, and the ego is the realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-
ego.

Name: Josh Almazan

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Response:

 I’ll be talking to the both of them. First, to the one that I'm courting that I am sincerely in
love. Also, to the other guy that I do love that person. If any answer I will get, I’ll accept it.
 Ill sacrifice my profession, I’ll tell the passenger to leave the plane or will them what is
really going to happen. They deserve to know.
 Good Grades. At the end of the day, diploma matters - in looking for job, to get the
promotion etc. Good grades show the effort you put in while studying.
 Life. I’ll still be choosing life for when I am alive, I can work hard to earn my money and
to feed my family. It’s still better to work on your own.
 For my father to came back. He died 11 years ago and I still miss him. If there will be this
wish, that is for me to be able to hug my father.

Respondent’s Detail

Name: Collin Manito

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Response:

 I suppose that falling out of love is just part of love even though you are not really into that
person. For me, I will just let him go and love her for the particular circumstances that if he
truly loves me, he will not fall in love with another girl.
 I would not ride on that day because I know that it would crash. I will also give warning to
Kobe to save his life also.
 I would rather have good brain without getting any education because as far as my
knowledge is concerned, good grades are just a number that represent the intelligence of an
individual. On the other hand, you can have good brain without getting an education but
through the experience you've encountered in life.
 I would choose life rather that money, because money can earn and life can't. I may be
doing this wrong but second life is more important than other material things.
 If I would be given a chance to have 3 wishes in life, I would use it to those important
matters. First, I will wish that God will give my father a second life. Second, I will wish
that poor people and those who are in need would become successful and have enough
money for themselves. Lastly, is for myself to be successful in life and to find a person that
will love and accept me for who I am.

Response:

 I would stop courting her because not only would I look like a bad person but it'll hurt the
person I'm courting if I continue to court her when I'm attached to someone else
 I would hug or text my mom if she's far from me and tell her I love her.
 A good brain without proper education because, it will push your mind to the limits on
whether it could function on certain levels.
 Money for family because it would help a lot and whats the use of having a lot of money
when you only use it for medication.
 For the Corona Virus to be gone, for our lives be resumed because it has been a year since
the world has been paused because of the said virus.

Respondent’s Detail

Name: El Tapere

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Response:

 Make some attempts. That's not going to be fine. We won't get it right all the time, but we
can try it all the time again. Renew as much as possible our pledge to love without
attachment.
 I'd have to explain my situation to my family, but I wouldn't tell them what was going to
happen. The gathering was to enable them to witness my final moment.
 I'd go and get good grades because having good grades in school is incredibly important. A
good grade point average is vital not only for graduating from high school, but it also opens
up opportunities for different institutions and majors as you decide to take the next step in
your life, as well as multiple pathways you can take through. It makes it easier to get into
universities, opens up scholarship opportunities, and helps you to find a better job after
school.
 I adore myself, but I'd rather depend on ready cash to get by. We just have one life to live,
and there is no time to waste. For the sake of my own survival, I'd choose the money for
me.
 My single wish is to get a thousand wishes granted to me. So that I can help those who are
suffering from physical and mental illnesses.

few seconds?
 Good grades. Because that would mean you have a good brain, too, right?
 It depends on how much money we are talking about. If I can be clear of my disease, I can
possibly make enough money to get them out of poverty.
 Right now, it’s for the entire world to be Covid-19 free. I would like our lives to get back to

Observation

The survey provides a remarkable detail on the human Psyche base on the theory of Sigmund
Freud’s Psychoanalytic paradigm. Its shows that the subjects follow their moral conscience rather than
committing to their desire.

Summary

The experiment distinguished Freud’s three concepts of the Psyche, Id, ego, and super. Followed
by a survey to test their personality using the idea.

Conclusion

The analysis of psyche inhibits the libidinal energy that manifest the way person think. The
basic drives are the satisfaction of our bodily needs and our desire. The goal of the psych is to
maintain or regain an acceptable level of dynamic equilibrium that maximizes pleasure and minimizes
tension. The energy that is used originated in the id, which has a primitive and instinctive nature. The
ego, arising from the id, exist to deal with realistically with the basic drives of id. It also mediates
between the forces that operate from the id. The superego, arising from the ego, acts as a moral brake
or encounter force to the practical concern of the ego. It sets out a series of guidelines that define and
limit the flexibility of the ego.
