Julius Caesar

Caesar was born into a patrician family and was a nephew of consul Marius, acquired a solid education
which made his political career successful even while he was quite young, he married whit a woman
called Cornelia. He was a very well-known military man who participated and won several battles and
when he returned to Italy he entered to his land with the entire legion and in this age was forbidden
enter to the city with an army, so he got the power of the entire empire with his legion, so he stressed
the importance of military power in order to keep the power which didn’t please the Senate. Some
curious things about Caesar are:

1.- he was kidnapped by pirates when he was young, when he was 20 year old he was going into his ship
called Rose and the pirates interjected his ship and kidnapped him, when his family paid the ransom he
promised that he would take revenge and after some years he did it.

2.- He had a son with Cleopatra, well first, when he got the power in Italy, he had some allies one of
them was Pompeyo, he ordered to Pompeyo to go to Egypt and conquer the entire land, but Pompeyo
didn’t finish his mission because he was seduced by Cleopatra and betrayed Julio Cesar because he
began a campaign to conquer Roma. When Julius Caesar realized he went to the Egypt to destroy all his
enemies, and in the middle of the battle he knew Cleopatra and had a son with her.

3.- the month of his birth is named after him too, July gets its name from Julius and this isn’t the only
month with a Roman background, June was named after Juno who was the wife of Jupiter, and August
was named after the Julius’s nephew Augusto.

4- He used a laurel wreath to cover baldness, although many scientists think that the laurel wreath he
wore was a sign of Caesar’s high rank a form of a crown, actually he wore it to cover his increasing
baldness.

5.- He had a serious medical condition, medical scientists have investigated historical writings that
Caesar suffered from dizziness and numbness in limbs, some think he had epilepsy or some illness
