Christmas 2006 Amigurumi Collection

Patterns by Amy Gaines

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn: White, off-white, light brown, dark brown, black, gold, red,
pink, green (I used Caron Simply soft for the white and light brown, and TLC Essentials for the
rest)
Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
Size H/8/5mm crochet hook FOR THE RUG ONLY!
Polyfill stuffing
Tapestry needle
6 mm doll eyes (for Santa, penguin, and snowman)
Small black beads (for bear and mouse eyes)
Embroidery thread
Felt- white, brown, gold/yellow, pink, red, green, orange
Medium sized bells
Small buttons for snowman
Abbreviations:
ch = Chain
sc = Single Crochet
2sctog = single crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
2scinc = single crochet twice in the same single crochet stitch (increase)
hdc= half double crochet
dc= double crochet
About this pattern: This pattern is worked in a spiral, so please mark the last stitch of each round to keep
place, with a stitch marker or safety pin. When starting a piece, the pattern calls for a “ring” use what ever
ring you would like: a slip knot, double ring, an adjustable loop, etc… The tail from the ring should be
tightened, sewn into the piece, and cut.

Amigurumi Christmas Table
Decoration
Santa:

Head: with light brown yarn


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (6)
(remember to mark the last stitch at the end of each

black beads for the eyes. With second felt circle, cut the circle in half, this is for the ears. Sew

Arms: with Dark Brown yarn (make 2)

stuffing, attach each leg onto the bottom of the body and weave in all tails.
Tie a bow of yarn around the bear’s neck; make a loop on top of head if you want to make this an
ornament.

Row 4: Chain 1, turn; sc in each sc across. End- cut yarn 12 inches long, place hair on top of
angel’s head and sew around hair line, weave in tails. Embroider on brown eyes. Cut out wings
from white felt and sew them on the back of angel. If you wish for this to be an ornament, make
a loop of gold yarn on head.

Stuff the tree very firmly. Cut out 16 felt circles of pink and red felt. Sew them on to the tree
randomly. Set tree aside.

Rug: with 5 mm crochet hook and both pink


and red yarn together. (You want the stitches
to be very tight)

Arrangement:

To arrange the Christmas table decoration, first sew tree to


rug, as seen in first photo. Making sure that tree is firmly
stuffed. Then place Santa, box and bear where you would
like, secur4e them if you wish. Lastly, place the angel on
top of the tree.

Amigurumi Penguin
Ornament

Head: with black yarn


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (6) (remember
to mark the last stitch at the end of each round.)
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) 2scinc in each sc (12)
Rnd 3: *2scinc, 1 sc* repeat around (18)
Rnd 4: *2scinc, 2 sc* repeat around (24)
Rnd 5: sc around (24)
Rnds 6 thru Rnd 10: sc around (24)
Rnd11: *2sctog, 2 sc* repeat around (18)
Rnd12: *2sctog, 1 sc* repeat around (12) End- slip stitch to next stitch and cut yarn. Cut out 2
white circles from white felt, and the beak from gold/yellow felt. Place 2-4.00 mm doll
eyes thru the white felt circles and put them the face as in photo and stuff head. Fold the
beak in half, and lightly stuff and sew around, sew the folded seam onto the penguins
face. Set head aside.

Body: with white yarn

each wing onto penguin and head/body seam, weave in all tails.

Feet: with Gold yarn (make 2)

Rnd 3: sc around (6) End- slip stitch to next stitch and cut yarn. Lightly stuff, attach each foot
onto the bottom of the body, and weave in all tails.

Scarf: with Red Yarn


Row 1: Chain 40, in 2nd chain from hook, sc, sc across chain
Row 2: Chain 1, turn; sc across each sc
Row 3: Chain 1, turn; sc across each sc- Fasten off. Weave in tails. Tie scarf around penguin’s
neck. To make this an ornament, make a loop on top of penguin’s head.

Christmas Bell Ornament


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (6) (remember
to mark the last stitch at the end of each round.)

Rnd 3: *2scinc, 1 sc * repeat around (18)
Rnd 4: Sc around (18)

Rnd 10: *2scinc, 3 sc * repeat around (30) End- slip stitch to next stitch and cut yarn, weave in
tail. For color band- change color on Rnd 7. With thread and needle, secure thread at the top
inside of the bell, and thread a medium sized bell, at desired length, tie bell and secure, cut thread.
Make a loop at top of outside of bell to hang. If desired, cut out leaves and berries out of felt and
sew them onto the bell as in the photo.

Hot Chocolate and Cookies

Hot chocolate: with Dark Brown yarn

cup firmly and place brown hot chocolate circle inside of the

Whipped Cream: with white yarn


Chain 14, in 2nd chain from the hook, 2scinc, in the next 2 chains, make 3 sc in each chain, in the
next 3 chain stitches, make 3 hdc in each chain, then in the remainder of the chain stitches, make
3 dc’s in each chain stitch. End and cut yarn. Let the piece roll-up and arrange it onto the top of
the hot chocolate and secure on, weave in all tails.

Handle: with off whit yarn


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (6) (remember to mark
the last stitch at the end of each round.)
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) sc around (6)
Rnds 3 thru Rnd 9: sc around (6) Stuffing as you go. End- slip
stitch to next stitch, cut yarn, and pull thru- fasten off. Sew
handle to side of the cup as in photo.

Plate: with off-white yarn

Chocolate chip cookie: with light brown yarn (make 2)


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (8) (remember to mark the
last stitch at the end of each round.)
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) *2scinc* repeat around (16) End- slip
stitch to next stitch, cut yarn, and pull thru- fasten off , only one
the first one. On the second circle do not cut yarn. Arrange the
two cookies together, wrong sides together, and sc around both,

stuffing as you go. End- fasten off, weave in all tails. Cut out brown felt chocolate chips and sew
them on to the cookie.

Oreo: Make 2 with dark brown yarn, and one of white yarn
Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 6 times in ring (6) (remember to mark the last stitch at the end of each
round ).
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) *2scinc* in each sc (12) End- slip stitch to next stitch, cut yarn, and
fasten off.
When you have made all three circles, arrange them so that you have the white circle in the
middle and the wrong sides of the brown circles are on the inside against the white circle.
Sew the three together with a couple of stitches in the center only.

Arrange the cookies on the plate, on the opposite side of the


handle, and secure them with a couple of stitches. Sew a
loop on the top of the cup above the handle, where the
brown circle and outside of the cup meet.

Swiss Roll Ornament


White Layer: white yarn
Row 1: chain 16, in 2nd chain from the hook, sc
across chain
Rnd 2: chain 1, turn; sc in each sc stitch across
Rnds 3 thru Rnd 10: chain 1, turn; sc in each sc
stitch across. Fasten off.

Chocolate Layer: Dark Brown yarn


Row 1: chain 26, in 2nd chain from the hook, sc across chain
Rnd 2: chain 1, turn; sc in each sc stitch across
Rnds 3 thru Rnd 10: chain 1, turn; sc in each sc stitch across. End- cut yarn and pull thru last
stitch, cut a 12 inch tail.

Arrange as in photo: and with the sides on the top of the photo, roll up both
layers. Using the tail from the chocolate layer, sew the roll closed, as in second
photo.

Whipped Cream: Same as for hot chocolate. Let the piece roll-up and arrange it onto the top of
the Swiss roll and secure on, weave in all tails.

Cherry: with Red yarn


Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 4 times in ring (4) (remember to mark the last stitch at the end of each
round).
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) *2scinc* in each sc (8)
Rnd 3: sc around (8)
Rnd 4: *2sctog* repeat around (4) End- before sewing up
hole, stuff the cherry firmly. With tail, sew up hole and
sew cherry onto top of whipped cream. Weave in all tails.
Cut out leaf from green felt and sew on to top besides
cherry. Sew a loop on top of cherry of red yarn.

Amigurumi Mouse and Stocking


Ornament
Mouse: with off-white yarn, working from top of head down
to bottom of body.
Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 4 times in ring (4) (remember to mark
the last stitch at the end of each round).
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) *2scinc* in each sc (8)
Rnd 3: *2scinc, 1 sc * repeat around (12)
Rnd 4: *2scinc, 2 sc * repeat around (16)
Rnd 5: sc around (16)
Rnds 6 thru Rnd 10: sc around (16)
Rnd11: Sc around Thru the FRONT Loop (16) Start stuffing mouse
Rnd12: *2sctog* repeat around (8)
Rnd13: *2sctog* repeat around (4) End- making sure that you
have stuffed the mouse firmly, with tail, sew up hole and
weave in tail. Cut out inside ear of pink felt and outside of ear
in white felt, for both ears. Sew pink inside to white outside
and sew each ear to mouse on sides of head. Sew on two black
beads for mousse eyes, and embroider pink triangle nose and
black whiskers, as in photo. With a piece of pink yarn, make a
1.5 inch tail and sew onto back of mouse at bottom of body.

Stocking: With Red yarn

Sew on 2 buttons onto body first, and then stuff the body very firmly. Attach head to
body and weave in all tails.

Rnd 4: Sc around Thru the FRONT Loop (18)

Rnd 7: sc around (18)
Rnd 8: *2scinc, 2 sc* repeat around (24)
Rnd 9: *2scinc, 3 sc* repeat around (30) End- slip stitch to
next stitch and cut yarn. With black yarn, make a loop on the
side of the hat, stuff hat lightly, and place onto head at an
angle, sew on to head.

Scarf: Same as for penguin, with green yarn.

Christmas Lights
With Black Yarn
Rnd 1: make a ring, sc 5 times in ring (5)

each round.)
Rnd 2: (in 1st sc on the ring) *2scinc* repeat
around (10)
Rnd 3: Sc around Thru the BACK Loop (10)
Change to desired color
Rnd 4: *2scinc, 1 sc * repeat around Thru the Back Loop (15)
Rnd 5: *2scinc, 2 sc * repeat around (20)

Rnds 7 thru Rnd 11: sc around (20)
Rnd12: *2sctog, 3sc* repeat around (16)

Rnd14: *2sctog, 1sc* repeat around (8) Start stuffing very firmly.
Rnd15: *2sctog* repeat around (4)End- Before closing up the hole, make sure the light is stuffed
enough, then close hole and weave in tail. With black yarn, make a loop on the black
base of the light.
