Science 10 (PERFORMACE TASK)

Emergency kit- A box or bag containing the equipment, supplies, and medications
needed to provide an initial assessment and to manage life-threatening conditions.
The kit typically includes tools for managing the airway and breathing, supporting
circulation, providing basic or advanced life support, inserting intravenous access,
and measuring vital signs.

Emergency Kit Items

Band Aid-The adhesive bandage protects the wound and scab

from friction, bacteria, damage, and dirt. Thus, the healing process
of the body is less disturbed. Some of the dressings have antiseptic
properties.

Rubbing alcohol- Disinfecting and cleaning superficial wounds.

(Don't use alcohol on cuts.) Alcohol can be useful to help clean
tweezers or a needle used to remove splinters. Antibiotic
ointment, such as bacitracin, to dab on cuts and scrapes to prevent
infection while healing.
Scissors -are essential supplies that should be included in any
first aid kit at a home or workplace. Scissors can be used to cut
bandages to fit wounds and to help remove dressings to bandages
can be changed to reduce the risk of infection.

Cotton pads- are used to stop or prevent bleeding from minor

punctures such as injections or venipuncture. They may be
secured in place with tape.

.
Hydrogen peroxide- is a mild antiseptic used on the skin to
prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and remove mucus or
to relieve minor mouth irritation

CPR Mask- are used in the resuscitation of patients who have

stopped breathing or who are breathing insufficiently and are
designed to prevent the spread of potential pathogens during
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
Cotton Buds-which help when you are trying to clean a wound. Cotton buds have
many uses, but in first aid scenarios, they are a go-to tool for applying the
antibiotic ointment. To use them, you take a cotton ball and hold it to the top of
your bottle of ointment.

Gauze Roll- They are ideal to fill crater wounds or to control

severe bleeding. Sterile gauze squares are used mainly for
cleaning a wound.

Ointment- This medication is used to prevent and treat minor

skin infections caused by small cuts, scrapes, or burns.

Adhesive Tape- is a type of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape

used in medicine and first aid to hold a bandage or other
dressing onto a wound. Surgical tape is often white because it
contains zinc oxide, which is added to help prevent infections.

Tweezers- An essential part of any first aid kit, particularly if

you enjoy hiking or other outdoor activities. The safest way to
remove a splinter or a tick is with a clean pair of tweezers.
Disinfect the tweezers with alcohol well before and after each
use.
Gloves-Not only do gloves ensure that you don't accidentally
introduce any dirt or bacteria into a wound, but they protect
you against the possibility of coming in contact with blood-
borne pathogens.

Importance Of First Aid Kit

First-aid kits help you handle the medical emergencies as quickly as
possible. In an emergency, a delay of just a single minute can cause
irreconcilable damage. These kits offer basic and instant care for common
medical injuries like injuries, burns, cuts etc.
