CXU, GU and MRU vehicles with a MACK MP8 Euro3 emission level engine that operate always or partly on increased
sulfur content fuel may experience compression leakage between the exhaust valves and seats. The result is uneven
compression, increased fuel consumption, reduced power and/or black smoke.

Burned exhaust valves and seats starts with corrosion on the exhaust valve seats due to sulfuric acid in the exhaust
area, This is caused by condensation from cold starts in combination with increased sulphur content in the diesel fuel.
The sulfuric acid will always attack the same position on all cylinders. Over time it will develop a compression leak and
the exhaust valve will be affected

Corrosion resistant exhaust valve seats and exhaust valves have been created for MACK MP8 Euro3 engines for
markets that suffer from this problem. For vehicles that need to be repaired for burned exhaust valves, the new
exhaust valve seats and exhaust valves must be used.
Note: The exhaust valve seats and exhaust valves must always be replaced together on all cylinders. Refer to Valve
Seat, Replacement in Function Group 211.
