Multiple Loadlines: MS Notice No 21 of 2013

AIstsignm_ent of multiple loadlines shall be applicable only for vessels with


n ernat1onal loadline certificate.
~he owner s~all make a request in writing to IRS indicating the deadweights or.
rafts for which multiple loadlines are to be assigned.
Th~ IRS surveyor of Recognised organisation shall verify
1. The deepest and multiple loadlines are permanently marked on the
ship side.
ii. 'Multiple Loadline Assignment booklet' (ship copy & company copy)
issued
iii. Stability information for each loadline is approved by IRS

Whenever the owner desires to change from one loadline to the other
i. Only the in use loadline certificate is given and the other loadline
certificates are kept in a sealed envelope under the safe custody of the
Master
ii. Only one set of loadline marks are 'painted in' whereas the others are
'painted out' with the same background colour
iii. The new summer freeboard are measured each time and recorded in
the 'Multiple Loadline Assignment booklet' (ship copy) endorsed by the
master
iv. The company is informed to update 'Multiple Loadline Assignment
booklet' (company copy) as indicated in the safety management
system (SMS)
v. An official entry is made in the ship's log book

During annual / renewal loadline surveys, the surveyor will endorse 'Multiple Loadline_
Assignment booklet' (ship copy). At this survey the vessel will be surveyed as per the
deepest draft and all loadline certificates will be endorsed.
