What impact does ethics have on leadership?

It takes a lot of good qualities to become a good leader. When we talk about leadership, we always look
into the person’s power to operate or how he/she can manage a number of people. Some of us look into
how popular a person and how he/she treats other people. Since the election is fast approaching, I will
make that as a topic of my answer.

I personally think that the impact ethics have on leadership is its ability to encourage people to follow
that leader. When someone aims for good leadership, one must at least have the people’s trust. And to
incorporate that trust, an individual must possess good ethics. Having good ethics is the step into
earning the trust you need from the people you are handling. It gives a psychological effect to an
individual when he/she is greatly trusted by the people. Not only that it will increase his/her adrenaline
to do great things but the level of happiness that trust can give is unmeasurable.

The impact that ethics have on leadership depends on that individual. One can possess bad ethics like
what we usually observe in our government and sometimes in other organizations. Others may have
good ethics in a form of disguise to get what they plan to acquire. Ethics has the ability to lure people
into believing that a person has a good character. It only takes a wise man to not be fooled. And it takes
a very rare individual to not fool his/her fellow Filipino.
