Abstract : Gout (uric acid) is an inflammatory disease of the joints that can be caused by excess
levels of uric acid compounds in the body, either due to excess production or increased intake of
purines. Pain is a sensory and emotional experience that includes feelings of distress in the form
of pain by certain nerve endings. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be done to
relieve pain is a warm red ginger compress. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect
of red ginger compresses on changes in the gout joint pain scale in the elderly in Pandean
Village, Gondang Health Center, Nganjuk Regency. The research design used a quasi-
experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 15 respondents.
The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The results showed that from 15
respondents, there was a decrease in the average respondent's pain scale before being given a
warm compress with red ginger by 80% (moderate pain), but after being given a warm compress
with a collision of ginger the average respondent's pain scale was 100% (pain). light). The results
of the study using the Paired t test showed a significant p-value of 0.000 because (p < 0.05)
concluded Ho was rejected and h1 was accepted. Thus, it can be stated that there is an effect of
red ginger warm compresses on changes in the gout (gout) joint pain scale in the elderly. Ginger
compress is expected to be one of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to relieve
joint pain experienced by the elderly. So it can minimize the occurrence of joint pain and
improve the quality of life. It is very important for nurses and other health workers to provide
information and education about giving ginger compresses to the elderly with gouty joint pain.
tumbukan jahe rata-rata skala nyeri responden sebesar 100% (nyeri ringan).
