How does the addition of FPR in varying dosage effect the impact behaviour of reinforced
concrete column with hybrid bar

Project Development and Progress – methodology completed

At the start of the semester, I was unfamiliar with fibre reinforced geopolymer concrete with
hybrid bar at the start of the semester and had no idea what the outcomes would be.
Following my presentation, I began gathering and reviewing as much literature as possible
that was pertinent to my study subject. I discovered many significant publications throughout
this process that provided experimental protocols and techniques that I changed and
integrated into my own methodology.

Methodology yet to be completed

I am still waiting for the approval of the request to manufacture form, but that should be
completed by the end of the week. Mr Ashley (specialist) has reviewed and checked the
drawing, then everything is quite straightforward, and the only remaining task would be the
construction of formwork, which will take roughly 1 month. This indicates the possibility of
getting the geopolymer column casting done before the laboratory closure (14th December
2021) is feasible. As a result, I will be able to conduct a lab experiment on 6th January 2022
(Lab reopen day) or the first day of semester 1 2021. I won’t be able to commence any lab
work or prepare trial mixes during lab closure, but that doesn’t affect my plan as the duration
of concrete curing is more critical

Additionally, geopolymer concrete mixes binder ingredients with an alkali activator, which
accelerates the curing process a bit when compared with ordinary Portland cement. Based
on my planned timeline, I should be able to get all my laboratory tests done before February
2022, which means I will have 3-4 months to complete my minor thesis.
