knowledge to its students rather than focusing on some specific areas. However,
i'am in complete disagreement with the speakers assertion because of following
three reasons.
Firstly, students have limited time within and out the university for study. Some
of them are engaged in part time jobs too. Making them to read compulsory on vivid
subjects which they have no interest at all only serves to undermine their psychy.
Furthermore, they do not have sufficient time to encompass broad spectrum of
subject and eventually the student will be subject to fail. For instance, consider
the example of Pokhara university of Nepal. In the year 2017 the university
soughted to allow students to take courses on liberal arts. It got acclaim during
its initial days both from parents and state government. But when the outcomes were
analyzed after 2 years, it was found that some students did not complete their
course, some of them didnt attained the exam and only fee passed their. Among the
students who passed it was again found that they have gained only superficial
knowledge which is not going to benefit them in future. Thus, from this example it
can be well clearly said that encompassing broad spectrum of coursebook wont make a
university great.
Even if, some argue that allowing students to study coursebook on much varied
fields helps to develop technical, arts, political and social knowledge in them
which they will be utilizing in their near future. But this reasoning is flawed on
the basis of countless examples of historical figures who have done well by
studying field only making the alive to eternity. For instance, Sir Issac Newton
is known as great Physicist as he founded basic theories of physics which are quite
useful upto present day time.
