A basic communication model consists of five components: the sender and receiver, the
medium that carries the message, contextual factors, the message itself, and feedback.
Communication can be categorized into three basic types: (1) verbal communication, in which
you listen to a person to understand their meaning; (2) written communication, in which you
read their meaning; and (3) nonverbal communication, in which you observe a person and infer
meaning.
The communication process is made up of four key components. Those components
include encoding, medium of transmission, decoding, and feedback. There are also two
other factors in the process, and those two factors are present in the form of the sender and the
receiver.
