1. Mr. Chan has 20 boys and 15 girls
in her English class. What percent
of the students are girls?

Total no. of students = base


Percentage = no. of girls
B = 20 + 15 = 35
P = 15
R=?
R = 15/35 = 0.429
R = 42.9%
2. Jerome answered 80% of the 50 items correctly in
a math test. How many items did he answer
correctly?

Base = total no. of test items = 50


R = 80% = 0.8
P = no. of items answered correctly =?
P = RxB = 0.80(50)
= 40
Jerome answered 40 items correctly.
3. Mary Gene paid P80,000 down payment
for the brand new car which is 20% of the
total cost.
P = 80,000
R = 20% = 0.20
B=?
B = P/R
= 80,000 / 0.20
= 400,000
The total cost of the brand new car is P400,000
4. Mr P. Cruz sold books worth P7500 for
which P2400 is his commission. What is his
rate of commission?
5. Our school has 8 male teachers who comprise
25% of all our teachers. How many teachers do
we have?
