Marignane, 21/05/2015

Dear Customer & Operator,

The "Information Letter" is an additional means of communication intended to provide you with a
regular summary of the main technical topics concerning each helicopter family. All the other forms
of written communication remain valid, in particular the "Information Notices" whose content is more
targeted but equally important.

The information given in this letter is for information purposes only, it in no way replaces the official
Maintenance publications issued by Airbus Helicopters or any other manual or recommendations in any
form whatsoever.

The purpose of this letter is to provide an update on recent achievements.

Summary:

1. Worldwide Dauphin Fleet status end 2014

2. Maintenance Burden Improvement on MB, N2 & N3:
 T & A tasks inspection interval increase from 600 h // 24 months to 1200 h // 48 months
 Major inspection increase from 5400 h // 10 years to 7200 h // 12 years
3. MFDAU battery replacement
4. UTAS hoist class 1 - Overload clutch issue
5. Dauphin / H155 family upgrade: Sea State 4 (SS4) to Sea State 6 (SS6)

1. Worldwide Dauphin fleet status end 2014:

As of today, the worldwide Dauphin fleet is made of 875 Helicopters in operation, having cumulated 262 900
flying hours in 2014.
On top of this, more than 6 000 000 flying hours have been recorded on the Dauphin fleet family since its debut,
enabling us to have a tremendous amount of operational feedback.

2. Maintenance Burden Improvement on MB, N2 & N3:

Using continuous collected data to serve you, we are now able to propose two major changes in the maintenance
plan relative to Dauphin Helicopters MB, N2 and N3.

These changes will impact:

1) 600 h // 24 months Inspection.
2) 5400 h // 10 Years Major Inspection.

 T & A tasks inspection interval increase from 600 h // 24 months to 1200 h // 48 months:

Within our continuous Maintenance Improvement Plan, which aims to continuously improve our DOC (Direct
Operating Cost) and is based on in-operation feedback, Airbus Helicopters has challenged and reviewed all the
tasks which needed to be performed at the 600 h // 24 months inspection.
This approach has resulted in a decrease in workload estimated at 40% at this stage due to the postponing of
tasks to 1200 h // 48 months inspection level.

Details relating to these modifications were issued in the latest MSM release (MB: November 2014,
N2 & N3: End January 2015).

 Major inspection increase from 5400 h // 10 years to 7200 h // 12 years:

Within the same context and approach, Major Inspection intervals have been extended from 5400 h // 10 years
to 7200 h // 12 years.
This was issued through the latest MSM release in November 2014 for MB Helicopters, and at the end
of January 2015 for N2 & N3 helicopters.

These new intervals are described in chapter 05.10.

For all inspections concerned by the initial interval of 5400 h // 10 years, a note has been added to indicate that
an extension to 7200 h // 12 years is now possible (see example below).
This Note redirects to paragraph 7.4.2 of the MSM introduction (“breakdown of the MSM”).

This latest paragraph 7.4.2 gives the guidelines for performing a Major Inspection, and states thatan interval
extension is available and subject to applicability (or not) of the “9 degree Airframe” retrofit on the concerned
A/C (applicability to be confirmed by Airbus Helicopters).

3. MFDAU battery replacement:

The MFDAU (Miscellaneous Flight Data Acquisition Unit), due to its data concentration function, is the heart of
the data recording & supervision system for device behavior.

It is equipped with an integrated battery for data

recording. Because this battery is welded on a
printed circuit, its replacement requires returning
the equipment to the manufacturer Sagem, who
alone is equipped with test benches enabling
correct replacement of the battery to be
validated.

Several customers have informed us of difficulties in managing this replacement because this equipment is
mandatory for most missions concerning their helicopters.

To improve the level of support granted to those of our customers concerned, Airbus Helicopters has set up a new
service dedicated to this matter: the standard exchange of the MFDAU card for battery replacement with a
special price specific to replacement of the battery only.

This service is available in the Airbus Helicopters Catalog.

4. UTAS hoist class 1 – Overload clutch issue:

Following an incident which occurred during a maintenance flight on a BK117 C-2 with a dummy load, some safety
measures have been set up which concern the whole UTAS hoist class 1 fleet as per EASA AD N° 2014-0201 and
Airbus Helicopters related ALERT SERVICE BULLETINS (see Information Notice No. 2838-I-25 available on
T.I.P.I.). The concerned hoists have to be tested with a Field Load Check Tool (FLCT) which is provided free of
charge by UTAS. In the event of a failed test, Airbus Helicopters and UTAS have set up an organization to
ensure mission availability for operators and a free of charge retrofit of the concerned hoists.

5. Dauphin / H155 family upgrade: Sea State 4 (SS4) to Sea State 6 (SS6):

Both Dauphin & H155 are certified to Sea State 4 level.

EASA & CAA have published directives (EASA AD 2014-0188 & CAA UK SD- 2014/001) preventing the
Dauphin/H155 from flying over Sea State 4 (SS4).

 For EASA perimeter: An Alternative Means of Compliance (AMOC) has been granted by EASA which had
led to delaying the application date of the AD up to July 1st, 2015.

 For CAA perimeter: The Safety Directive is active and the associated limitations are in force
since 1st September, 2014 for operations from UK territory.

As of today:

 For AS365 N3: Service Bulletin AS365-25.01.51 with associated kits is available in order to upgrade external
life raft installations up to SS6 (H/C not equipped with external life rafts are SS6 capable
without any need of an upgrade; refer to updated Flight Manual available on T.I.P.I.).

 For H155: Service Bulletins EC155-25-131 (Life raft container reinforcement) & EC155-25-133 (Reinforcement
of the rear flotation gear unit) with associated kits are available in order to upgrade the H/C up
to SS6.

 For AS365 N, N1, N2: For these versions, technical solutions have been identified. The target is to provide a
solution to customers before the EASA AMOC deadline (1st of July 2015).
