Welcome to Technology for teaching and learning!

So in here I’m gonna introduce to you the

questions and answers of mine that are related to this course. So hold your breath , listen and stay
tuned!

This course is used to support both teaching and learning. The technology itself infuses classrooms
with digital learning tools, such as computers and hand held devices that expands course offerings,
experiences, and learning materials that supports learning.

1. What are the roles that technology plays in the work of a teacher?

Teachers can be the guide that shape and mold educational experiences for their students, helping
them engage with learning tools that will enrich and support deeper learning, including different
types of technology. So there are vital roles that technology plays in the work of a teacher.

First. Is when the teacher shows a presentation through power point or simply posting images and
visual aids on the board in implementing a certain topic or lesson towards his/her students.

Second. Teachers can choose to lecture less and spend more time teaching students, as a group or
individually, on how to use digital devices to make discoveries on their own. Especially the science
and computer courses where in it is more on experimentation and the teachers will let the students
know on the process of learning through their hands on experienced and observation with it. There
is this less discussions happen because hands-on activities will matter on it.

Lastly, with the help of digital and non-digital devices and deeper content, teachers can make things
easier especially in doing paper works, preparing students lesson plan etc. Through it, they can have
these lots of time in focusing learner’s weaknesses and enhance instruction as well. In which it allows
teachers to manage and assess individual student progress and provide immediate feedback instead
of waiting to check on student work through traditional after-school homework.

These 3 roles truly prove that in today’s technology-driven world, teachers may no longer be the sole
keepers of knowledge in the classroom especially in this pandemic where in it deals with the online
classrooms, blended-learning models, and the overall rise of technology in classrooms allow for
students to have far more access to constant information than past generations.

2. What are the roles that technology plays in the learning of students?

Technology itself allows students to become more independent in the classroom especially in learning
process. So generally, the roles that technology plays in the learning of students is when the
students need to know deeply a certain topic that has been discussed by his teacher or home works,
reports and unfamiliar ideas and topics that he may find it a little bit confusing in it. So through using
internet, computer or other terms and concepts that are related to technology , the students can be
able to acquire new information and knowledge that may cater his lacking on it. In addition to, in
doing student’s school works wherein they need to be creative in all aspects using a variety of
powerful thinking tools such as spreadsheets, databases, programming, micro worlds, multimedia
authoring, graphics design, modeling software, conceptual mapping, simulations and music
composition software. Making use of technology to allow students the freedom to discover solutions
to problems both independently and collaboratively is a force for good. As educators we strive for
students to engage with our subject beyond a superficial level. We want them to be active learners,
learners who have a thirst for discovery and knowledge.

3. Many college students are presently required to take computer course including word processing,
spreadsheet preparation, presentation techniques, etc. How do you think this will help application of
skills in teaching?

I think this application of skills would greatly help in teaching where in, in today’s world we are
surrounded by many technological tools and devices that can make things easier especially in
teaching world because everything is in there. We can do a lot of things effortless, creatively, and we
can save a lot of time in doing so. However, if I’m not mistaken, teachers should have this expertise
in word processing , spreadsheet preparation, presentation techniques, etc . In which this
application of skills could be the soul that molded the teachers to be with it because these thingy
evolves them in a day-to-day sessions which is being flexible and equipped would be teachers code
name in all aspect.

4. How can learners benefit most in the use of technology?

Technology itself has its advantages that would benefit the users especially the learners wherein they
are the fondest of it. So learners benefit most in the use of technology through learning useful life
skills with the use of technological tools and devices in which it can help them to develop many
practical skills, including creating presentations, learning to differentiate reliable from unreliable
sources on the Internet, maintaining proper online etiquette, and writing thingy.

There are eight policy themes around the world that are commonly identified in educational
technology policies; (1) vision and planning; (2) ICT infrastructure; (3) teachers; (4) skills and
competencies; (5) learning resources; (6) EMIS; (7) monitoring and evaluation; and (8) equity,
inclusion, and safety. The framework only considers policy intent but not the extent to which policies
are realized in practice, nor the impact of such policies. The policymakers are challenged to offer
useful related policy guidance for rapid developments and innovations in the technology
sector(Trucano,2016).

5. Expand your understanding on 8 policy themes for educational technology. (refer M2-lesson1)

These eight policy themes for educational technology are the patterns and guides that help countries
gauge their level of educational development and identify priority areas for strengthening education
systems wherein everyone can access with it through digital technology that benefits more
specifically the learners and teachers as for them to access credible sources of knowledge and filter
information critically. So there is this one policy themes for educational technology that I wanna
expound breifly as for you to have this a bit background with it. It is the EMIS which stands for
Educational Management Information system in which it is a kind of system that monitors the
performance of education programs offered by the institute and manages the distribution and
allocation of educational resources. Monitors the performance that is important to inaugurate the
process of planning to translate educational policy into action such as the Pupil Data, Teacher Data,
School inventory Data and Performance Data.

7. What is the impact of ICT in Education Policy to teaching and learning?

Today, ICT brings a positive and negative impacts in the hands of many. However, there are lots of
benefits to the younger generation especially for the students from it. For example, some of the
students who work part-time also can find some time to do their class works. In addition, most of the
time students like to use word processing from the computer itself. It is also quick and easy to edit
their work and improve their presentation by using ICT. Perhaps, it empowers students to engage in
the learning process and give them an interest in their personal education. By integrating ICT into the
classroom, students have the ability to learn more effectively, collaborate with each other, and
explore the world around them. It is not only transforms teaching but also the learning processes.
The transformation gets to increase learning gains for students that provide learners an opportunity
to develop creativity, communication skills, and other thinking skills because the main purpose of it is
to familiarize students and teachers with the use and workings of computers, related social and
ethical issues that empower both teachers and learners.

8. Interview a cyber bullied student. What are your suggestions to improve student performance
related to the discussion of safety issues in cyber bullying?

As I interviewed JAY-R ALICANIA, I can’t help myself to feel this sympathy of mine towards his
situation because he has these SPEECH LANGUAGE IMPAIRMENT and ORTHOPEDIC IMPAIRMENT.
He was once a victim of cyber bullying that caused him to stop his studies. There was this one
classmate of his, that captured him as he walked towards the school and posted it into Facebook,
and he seems like a meme in there with a funny caption. So my ultimate suggestion to him is to
continue his studies and ignore the bullies and telling him heartedly that you don’t have to suffer
through cyberbullying in silence. When you experience it again, then you should let your parents
know what’s going on so they can get help and emotional support. In addition, telling someone at
the school, like a teacher, coach or counselor, can go a long way toward making the abuse stop.
Don’t lose hope, and never give up! Keep chasing your dreams.

So those are the information that I only share with you in response to those questions that has been
posted in our fb group. Sorry for my mispronounced words and the errors of my sentences
construction. Thank you and God bless!
