MALINOWSKI
Assignment: Create Your Own Superhero

As a part of our “Heroic Acts” unit, you will be creating your own superhero. Think about our discussions
on what makes someone a hero, and what you know about superheroes that are popular in our culture.
If you could come up with a superhero to be written about in comic books or be the focus of a television
show, who would that hero be? What would he or she look like? What superpowers would be at his or
her disposal?

Your first job is to come up with a creative and appropriate name for your superhero.

Next, you will write about your superhero. Be sure to include all of the necessary information to create a
clear and vivid picture of who your superhero is.
 Paragraph 1 is a description of the hero’s physical appearance and superpowers, at least 6
sentences long.
 Paragraph 2 is a description of the hero’s “backstory.” Who or what does he work to protect?
Does he have an alterego? Is there something that weakens, or even takes all power away from
him? How did he acquire his powers?

Finally, you will create some sort of physical representation of your superhero. This can be done in the
form of a drawing or sketch, a computer-created image, or a variety of other formats.. Keep in mind
your written description, so that your physical representation and writing are portraying the same
superhero!

Remember, have fun and be creative with this assignment! Your superheroes must be school
appropriate, or this assignment will not be accepted, and will be considered incomplete.
