Your INSIGHTS about the food safety requirements in the Philippines as stipulated in
Section 5 of PD 259. 

As I’ve read the Basic Principles of Food Safety, there are a lot of things to
consider. Primarily, in determining the conditions of food to consume. For example,
buying perishable goods in the market, we need to examine the vegetables carefully
and they may not be fresh or smelly and there is much more to consider. Since we are
talking about food we need to consider the welfare of the majority because health is
involve. That’s why we have to choose the good conditions of the food that we will
consume not to be called ‘picky’ or choosing delicately but we are just thinking about
our health to be safe.

Also, we should treat our pets and plants in the farm as if treating ourselves or serving a
costumer in a restaurant. Giving them a good treatment will make a good outcome and
they will become healthy and protected from harm. For example, like babies, animals
also need to get an immunization or chemicals that will protect their health from any
virus or make them healthy and grow fast. Like their feeds, it will make them grow faster
and their production will also grow too.

Next, we need to read the label of any products that we will consume to know if it will
have a bad effect for the health from a particular ingredient or food. For example, my
friend likes to eat chicken but when he already ate it, he had many rashes in his body
after that scenario he realise that he have allergy from chickens.

Another example, my cousin have an allergy in shrimps, we had a celebration inside our
house and she came a bit late wherein she didn’t knew the dishes that we prepare. She
took curry on her plate and take a seat and started eating the contents of her plate. She
didn’t know that the ingredient of the food she ate had shrimp in it because she
thought that it’s chicken in small bites. She just knew that it has shrimp when her
mother ask her what she ate and her mother told her that it has shrimp. She
immediately took her medicine for allergy and rest. After that day, she told to all of us
that we will inform her what our menu is when we will have our gathering the next time.

I also read that imported food that was declared unsafe by the authority of the
exporting country shall be withdrawn from the market. We may not know that those
imported goods that was being sold somewhere are maybe one of those unsafe food
that was declared by the authorities.
