E-Banking Practices and Purchase Intention among Commercial Bank Clients in

General Santos City.

Chapter III

    METHODOLOGY

This study examines the factors influencing on e-banking practices in General

Santos City.

Therefore the customers, who use e-banking services of selected banks (PNB, Metro

Bank, Robinsons Bank, China Bank, and UnionBank of the Philippines), operating in

General Santos city, were considered as the target population in this study. Systematic

sampling was adopted to recruit participants for this research. Anonymous

questionnaires are randomly distributed to a total of 100 customers from selected banks

in this city.This chapter presented the methodology which consists the research design,

research locale, respondents and informants, research instruments and procedures for

data gathering, and statistical analysis in conducting the study.

Research Design

This study used correlation type of research because it attempts to determine the

extended of relationship between two or more variables using statistical data. In this

type of design, relationship between and among a number of terms in data, but it does

not go so far in its analysis to prove the cause for these observe patterns. Cause and

effect are not a basis of this type of observational research. The data, relationship and

distribution of variables are studied only. Variables are not manipulated, they are only

identified and are studied as they occur in a natural setting.

Locale of the Study


The study was conducted at General Santos City. E banking is one of the growing

business in General Santos City.Most of the company used E -bank in giving the salary of

their employees.There are many Banks located in General Santos City.Some of it is Robinson's

Bank of the Philippines that is located in Robinsons Place Gener Santos,J, Catholico Avenue

corner Bula-Lagao Road General Santos,UnionBank of the Philippines,loacated at Pioneer

Ave.,Geberal Santos City and many more.

Respondents and Informants

The respondents of the study were the Commercial Bank Clients in General

Santos City.. A total of 100 clients were asked to answer the Survey Questionnaire to

get information about the their transactions in Ebank as well as on how to get their

satisfaction and affect their purchase intention.

Sampling Technique

The researcher used Simple Random Sampling for collecting information from

respondents. Simple Random Sampling is a type of probability sampling in which the

researcher randomly selects a subset of participants from a population. Each member

of the population has an equal chance of being selected. Data is then collected from as

large as percentage as possible of this random subset.

Research Instrument

The researcher used a survey questionnaire for collecting data from the

respondents. The objectives of the study are to know what is the impact of the Egbank

practices to the purchase intention among Commercial Bank Clients.To ensure content

validity, the survey instrument was vetted by four academics with expertise in the

discipline of Marketing, Banking & Finance. The survey instrument, originally written in
English, The survey questionnaire was developed to make a list of questions for the

customers to answer and was given to 100 respondents. The questionnaire is divided in

to three parts.

The first part of the survey questionnaire is all about the customer profile. The

second part is composed of questions about the Level of E-bank practices resulting to

positive feedback of the clients. The third part is the extent of Clients purchase

intention.rivacy and convenience,content and website lay out,speed of delivery,and

accessibility).

The E-bank practices and purchase intention among Commercial Bank Clients in

General Santos City were interpreted with the used of each variable that was measured

by asking questions through the Survey Questionnaire with the rating type scale

presented below.

The 5- point scale rating for every sub-factor is describe as:


     Strongly Agree (5) -The level of implementation of E-Banking Practices is very
high with 81-100%.
     Agree (4) - The level of implementation of E-Banking Practices is high with 61-
80%.
     Neutral (3) - The level of implementation of E-Banking Practices is fairly high
with 41-60%.
     Disagree (2) - The level of implementation of E-Banking Practices is low with
21-40%.
    Strongly Disagree (1) - The level of implementation of E-Banking Practices is very
low with 0-20%.

Strongly Agree (5) - The extent of Client's Pruchase Intention is very high (81-
100%).  

Agree (4) - The extent of Clients Purchase Intention is high (61-80%).

Neutral (3) - The extent of Client's Purchase intention is fairly high (41-60%).

Disagree (2) - The extent of Client's Purchase intention is fairly high (21-40%).

Strongly Disagree (1) - The extent of Client's Purchase Intention is very low (1-
20%).

Data Gathering

The data were given by the respondents which is the customers. The researcher

approached customers online due to the ongoing pandemic. After the customer answer

the survey questionnaire, the researcher gathered all the data and analyzed the result

regarding to the E-bank practices and purchase intention among Commercial Bank

Clients.

Statistical Tool
At the end of the survey, the researcher gathered all the data and analyzed to

come up an output by a statistic analysis and interpretation. Data analysis is conducted

to get the result of the survey for the selected participants. The answers of the

participants were summed up.

Accuracy and Precision

This tool was used in summing up the survey result. It is used in data analysis.

Accuracy is closeness of the measurement to each other precision is a description of

the random errors, a measure of statistical variability in simpler terms, given a set of

data points from repeated measurements of the same quantity, the set can be said to

be accurate if their average is close to the true value of the quantity being measured,

while the set can be said to be precise if the value close to each other.
