The ECG monitor keeps track of the vital signs of the transported patient. Defibrillators are used to
stabilize a heart in cardiac arrest or to revive a fallen patient.
2) Spinal board
This ambulance equipment provides an immobilization and transport system for patients with
suspected spinal trauma. The spine plank allows first responders to lift the patient during release or
transport in difficult conditions.
3) Transport Ventilators
4) Suction Unit
A suction unit is started when the patient is bleeding internally and requires building pressure on
the vital organs for relief. It is also used to remove fluid that has accumulated in the body or mouth
and in situations that require emergency procedures in ambulance equipment before reaching the
hospital.
5) Infusion Pump
An infusion (or withdrawal) syringe pump is a device that can introduce or withdraw fluids into or
from a patient’s body, at a defined flow rate with a controlled target volume.
6) Ambulance Equipment: Bed, Patient Shift Roll, and Ambulance Seat
Cots are especially useful when the patient is on a higher floor of a building, unable to move or
worsening their condition with movement. Patients with spinal cord injuries receive special spinal
support boards and collars during transport. Shifting the roll is important if your patient is not a
traumatized one, but he cannot move on his own feet. However, the most frequently used means of
transportation from the patient’s home to the back of the ambulance is the ambulance seat.
7) Nebulizer
A nebuliser is meant to vaporize liquid medicine into a mist so the patient can inhale it on the way
to the hospital. It is used when medication must be given critically to a patient for immediate relief.
The oxygen supply unit is one of the most vital ambulance equipment because it can be used on fire
victims, patients with breathing difficulties such as asthma or to revive unconscious patients.
9) Sphygmomanometer
The sphygmo is a typical instrument for measuring blood pressure. It consists of an inflatable cuff
that is applied to the arm and connected to a spring in a mechanical manometer, next to a scaled
scale, allowing the determination of systolic and diastolic blood pressure by increasing and gradually
releasing the pressure in the cuff. This device is used to measure the blood pressure of patients who
require emergency medical attention.
10) Ambulance Equipment: rescue squad and bandages
The presence on board the ambulance of these items is common. Thanks to them, immobilizing
joints is efficient and easy. The most common splints come in different shapes and sizes so they can
adapt well to a broken or sprained joint.
