Chapter 01: Prologue

Third-Year-Summer in high school, waiting for

examinations.

I'm in delight for the approaching summer vacation.

——Once we're in summer vacation, I'm going for a

survival tour in an uninhabited island.

During the height of smartphone prosperity, I, Shinomiya

Hokage, is interested in the primitive.

To be specific, I love survival tropes.

Shooting harpoon at fishes under the sea, eating

mushrooms.

I yearn for that kind of life.

That's why my dreams for the future are to live on an

uninhabited island.

I'll work, earn money, and buy an island and live a survival
life there.

It's a childhood dream of mine and that's why I am making

preparations.

For example, in my school bag.

People would get angry if they find out but I have a

survival knife inside.

I have used knowledge from many books, internet

information, and videos.

I have piled up experience several times to participate in

an uninhabited island tour.

I won't call myself a professional but I'm sure that I know

Something hits my back while I was in high spirits.

The feeling of the object that hit me seem to be an eraser.

When I turned around, I found the top of the class caste

looking this way.

They're grinning.

"Hey, Hokage! Do Kagebunshin! Shadow Clone!"

"Yeah, try saying 'Nin! Nin!'"

My name's Hokage and so they play with me like that.

I don't know but it seems to be the same name as the

protagonist of a very popular manga.

That's why others call me 'Ninja' but I don't mind it.

I retorted back but it didn't reach their ears.

For them, that means that I would end their banter.

If it's not the reaction they're looking for then it's the end of
the joke.

I belong to the lower end of the class caste, but not the
bottom.

Unlike the typical otaku who wears glasses, I look ordinary.

They throw light banter at me but they don't bully me.

"Man, I want summer vacation to come sooner."

I sighed, face forward, lie down on the desk thinking about

summer vacation.

Then, the chime should sound and I wake up to take

classes——Or how it should've been.

"Huh?"

When I opened my eyes, I'm in a different place.

It's a mysterious cave somewhere. I'm lying down around

the entrance.

Outside is a forest spreading outside.

"Is this a dream? But it feels real. Is this reality?"

But, I can't help but feel that this is a reality.

Putting that aside.

"That's my bag"

My bag is just lying down next to me.

Inside are a lot of survival goods I can use.

"I don't get it"

I don't know what's going on.

Where's this place, and why am I here?

Not knowing the meaning, I can affirm this much.

"This is an opportunity"

Whether it's a dream or it's real, on this occasion.

Anyway, I can indulge myself in this survival magic.

 Chapter 02: Grasping the situation

I love survival but I still have a smartphone.

It's banned back then, but nowadays, there's no problem

bringing a smartphone in school.

Therefore, respecting the rules, I do own a smartphone and

bring them when commuting to school.

But, smartphones are useless at this crucial time.

Reception is down, no Wi-Fi.

I thought that it was just because I'm inside a cave but it's
nothing different outside.

I tried going up a tree but there's no reception at all.

"Maybe, this is...."

Based on the cave I woke up on, there's only one

explanation I can think of.

Well, though it's logical, it's too much out of reality.

"No, putting that aside, I will have to prioritize living first."

I can't use a smartphone to call for help.

If that's the case, then it's unknown when help will come.

I should look for the worst-case scenario right now.

First is to understand the situation.

I look at my phone's screen and it says July 19.

house.

"I think I slept in school and I teleported here after waking

up?"

My equipment is this school uniform and school bag and its

insides.

I also teleported here together with the stuff I had in my

pocket.

However, I don't have anything I have on my desk.

"First is to check the terrain, next is the local

infrastructure."

The sun doesn't show signs of it sinking down immediately.

Perhaps it will remain bright for a few more hours.

Fortunately, the air temperature is gentle, and humidity is

also at a satisfactory level.

After a while, monkeys, squirrels, and other animals came

to view.

I don't know much about monkeys but the squirrel is

Tamias.

Both of them are looking at me from far away, but they're

not coming close.

They're cautious and wary.

Moving forward and I heard a stream coming from a river,

I move to follow the sound and I found a somewhat wide

river.

The river's water seems clean and I should be able to drink

from here directly.

"But, I can't get a bad stomach at this moment and so I

should make sure."

I open my bag and take out a bottle with a purifier.

You can fit 500ml in one bottle and I have three.

I scoop up some water inside.

When drinking, I have to take out the cap and install the
water filter.

needing prior knowledge or technique.

In truth, there are other filtration systems where you don't

have to rely on this tool.

However, the current situation is urgent that taking the

safe and efficient way is the best way.

Besides, it would be a waste not to use survival goods at all.

Drinking the filtered water from the river, it feels cold and
delicious.

Maybe it's more delicious because it came from nature and

I just fixed it.

It's just water and yet it's so delicious.

"I will have to use the cave as my base for a while and since
I secured water in this river, I have no problems with that.
What's left is food."

It would be best if I can start agriculture.

It's more stable than searching, collecting, and hunting.

However, agriculture takes time.

Therefore, I'm thinking of collecting and hunting for now.

I do have some kitchen garden seed in my bag but I can't

use that right now.

The result of my exploration shows that there's a severe

lack of food.

I would like to eat meat if possible but I haven't seen any

cows or pigs nearby.

I found a deer from a distance but it's too cautious that it

escaped immediately.

I will need to create a trap to capture a deer.

"Is the sea close?"

I'm looking for the sea.

I can extract salt from the seawater and drink clean water.

If there are fishes, I can have enough food, and it's good to
use seaweed.

"I feel like I can find them if I move a little forward but I
should return."

My hand holding the survival knife is getting numb.

I'm making some landmarks so I don't lose my way but it's

getting me exhausted.

I've done muscle training for this day but I'm still not that
strong I guess.

When I returned to the cave, I hear voices from a distance.

It's multiple voices, all women. They sound like they're in a

bad mood.

Footsteps come together with the voices of women.

"Seriously, what's going on?"

"Yeah, right?"

"I can't use my phone either."

"I can't believe I have to walk using indoor shoes."

These voices seem familiar.

While I was thinking who the voice was,

"Ah, it's Hokage!"

"Wait, no way?!"

"It's true! It's Ninja!"

"Seems like there's someone else other than us."

A group of four women appears before me.

I muttered, "I knew it."

It's my classmates.

They're the group of the top of the class caste.

 Chapter 03: Where's this place?

Appearing before me is the group with Yuuki Mana as the

center.

Her height is a feature of her that even landed in

magazines.

They're just next to the Sumeragi siblings in the class caste.

That means, they're one of the people who call me 'Ninja'

"Ninja, know something?"

"Not much. I woke up in the cave."

Yuuki Mana asked.

Her hair's curled nicely that she could be placed in a salon

advertisement.

Her hair color isn't black but more of light pink.

If I recall, she dyed her hair at the end of the summer

vacation.

"Wait, cave?! That's nice. We woke up on soil."

Said Futagawa Eri.

Long hair, short body, she's more of a neat-and-tidy type of

girl.

She's famous among those called Otaku.

According to them, she's only at that point where they

could bang her but they don't.

That means, she's got some secrets to compensated dating

where she flatters the sugar daddies but never spread their

"I'm a survival man you see. I have a lot of survival goods

in my bag. This knife is one of those. I never thought that I
would use it."

Nikotama Arisa noticed the knife on my right hand.

She's a woman who works a part-time job on a karaoke bar.

She has ponytail hair.

Below her eyes are some flashy pink make-up.

Is that fashion or something? Or maybe she's just shit at

putting on makeup.

She talks to Eri a lot because she's interested in

compensated dating.

I heard that her senior in her work already deflowered her.

"Now that you mention it, you do love your survival stuff,
Hokage. Weren't you planning on joining a survival tour this
summer?"

"Yeah, how did you know that I'm participating in a tour?"

Niimi Karin, she's as observant of the surroundings as me.

Karin and I have been classmates from first to the third

year.

I'm unsure if that's really her natural hair but she keeps on
saying that for three years, so I guess she's telling the truth.

We hardly have a private talk and so I don't know what she

does on weekends.

Also, she never calls me 'Ninja.'

"If Ninja's here, then Reito and Byakuya should be here!"

Mana mentions the Sumeragi brothers.

The guys who are ranked first and second in grades, their
appearance is also undisputed. They also have outstanding
motor skills.

They're naturally popular with the girls but I hate them.

No matter how excellent they are, they both have a shitty

personality.

"For now, we can work together with Hokage, right?"

Karen proposed.

The other girls also look surprised.

They have the same reaction as me.

"Sure, Ninja would be reliable. He also has a knife with

Lastly, Mana concludes the talk.

don't mind if you leave."

I'm also happy that there are more people now.

We can assign and share work and become efficient and it

raises our security.

We don't have a problem with having too many numbers

that we have food problems either.

"So, Ninja, what about your lust?! I think that anyone

would be glad to be with us. But, you're not getting erect. Are
you gay?"

I walk while talking to Mana.

The girls on top of the class caste follow me.

It's a weird scene but it's not a bad feeling.

Mana and the girls are talking as we return to the cave.

I asked for information about where they woke up.

From their conversation, they seem to wake up near each

other.

However, there are no other results from there. It's within

Most of the time, I just listen to them while sleeping on my

desk.

"Even so, I wonder where in Japan are we?"

Arisa said.

They've already accepted the fact that they are here all of a

"It's summer and yet it's not hot at all, maybe we're in
Hokkaido."

Eri guessed.

"If we're in Hokkaido, then we can use our phones, right?

Maybe it's an uninhabited island somewhere?"

Karen gives a precise opinion.

The three agreed saying "Ooh." and "You're right."

"But, if we're in an island in the east of Hokkaido, that

means that we can use this."

"Yeah, even when using google, there's nothing but

greenery. That's likely."

Mana joked and Arisa joined in.

"No, if we're anywhere in Hokkaido then there should be

Sure enough, Mana retorts, saying that it's a joke.

Then, the four laughed together.

"Oh well, you girls are quite carefree"

These girls are surely peace idiots.

They think that rescue will come for sure.

Their carefree attitude is their salvation right now.

It's better than getting hysteric.

"Now then, It's about time I take a look."

After a while relying on the marks on the trees.

The cave is finally coming to our sight.

Then, as soon as they saw the cave, I stopped the girls.

I spread my arm sideways and tell them to quiet down and

then I lowered my body to the bushes.

"Hey, what's going on?"

Mana asks.

I warned them to stay quiet and pointed at the cave.

 "Look inside the cave."

"Wait, no way?!"

The girls are surprised.

One huge tiger is resting in the cave.

It yawned multiple times and lie down seeming drowsy.

However, if we get closer, the tiger will notice us.

"Why is there a tiger here?!"

"There shouldn't be any wild tigers in Japan."

Arisa and Karin are getting noisy.

"It's because this isn't Japan."

"""Huh?"""

"If we're in Japan, then we can use our phones anywhere.

Even in uninhabited islands. We should be getting reception
outside. Besides, the animals here are weird. There are
Tamias in this forest and the only place they live in Japan is
in Hokkaido."

"Then we're in Hokkaido?"

Eri said. I rejected it saying 'Not possible'

"I'll leave out the details but there are also creatures that
you can't find in Hokkaido."

 "Then, where's this place?"

Karin looks at my face.

"It's a high-jump of a conclusion but I think that we're not

in Earth."

"You mean this is the 'Isekai' from the manga?"

"That's right."

The girls turn stiff.

 Chapter 04: Selfie Stick

"——What do you mean by another world?"

Mana asks with a violent tone.

"It's just my opinion, don't be so harsh. It's just that

everything is too strange. The ecosystem is, and the events
that led to this. That's all out of ordinary."

"That doesn't mean that we're in a place that's not Earth.

That's just weird."

"And that's why I'm saying it's my opinion. Just an opinion.

We have no scientific grounds for it, and I'm not saying that
I'm right either. It's just the answer I came up from sorting
out the situation."

Maybe it's too early to express my conclusion.

No, the timing will always be bad, even if it's early or late.

It would be bad if they started screaming here and the tiger

notices us.

I don't think I can win against the tiger with my survival

knife.

"Let's withdraw from here for now. Let's talk after that."

I backed off while keeping an eye on the tiger.

We rested on the river I found after leaving the cave.

"Drinking directly from the river has the risk of diarrhea.

purifier."

I demonstrate with the bottle from my bag.

My bottle already has water but I tossed it away since it's a

special case.

"Like this."

Then, I show that there's no problem drinking from it.

"And I have two more, so use those when you need a

drink."

I handed the bottles to Eri and Arisa.

"Ninja, you're too prepared for this! But, won't it be an

indirect kiss with Ninja if we use this bottle? We're not in that
relationship, are we?"

Arisa jokes about indirect kissing with a bit of displeasure.

She's that kind of cheery person and she expresses her

thoughts that way.

And for a gloomy guy like me, it's more displeasure.

"Don't worry. I haven't used those yet. I mean, it's my first

"Then that's great."

Arisa is the one who chimes the group.

I guess that's why she's bright with it.

Eri and Karin are sure of their thoughts.

Both of them are calm on the surface.

The two shared the bottled water.

Then, they show no interest and stay silent.

On the other hand, Mana's the only one visibly confused.

Arisa handed her the bottle but she lagged before reacting.

"D-Does this mean that we can't go home?"

Mana asked as she takes the bottle from Arisa.

Then, after drinking water in one gulp, she handed the

bottle back to Arisa.

Arisa laughed at her saying "You're a heavy drinker.", and

supplied the bottle with water.

She readily chimes with others but Mana's facial

expressions show worry.

"I don't know. If my guess is right, we might be able to

return. Although, I don't know how to do it, and there's a high
likelihood that it won't happen. Besides, even I know that the

idea of going to a parallel world is stupid."

"Do we have a way to see if we're in another world or not?"

"Hmmm...."

I think for a moment.

"I won't know if we're in another world or not but if I can

see the outside of the forest then I might find something. For
example, if there's a nearby settlement, then we won't need to
do a survival lifestyle, right?"

"Yeah. Then let's hurry up and escape the forest. I want to

go back home."

"I do soo, but, we don't know which direction we should go.

In a sense, I would like to find the sea if possible. Although, I
have a different method."

"What do you mean?"

Mana tilts her head.

The other three make the same face.

"Our reception's down but we can still use cameras on our

phones. Therefore, all we have to do is climb a tree and take
photos of the surroundings."

"There's no way we can climb a tree."

"I can do tree climbing."

Arisa retorts with, "You're a real ninja!"

"Well, that's just a suggestion. Does anyone have a selfie

stick and smartphone? Mine's an old model, and I don't think
I can use the selfie stick with it. And in that regard, everyone
has the latest smartphone, right?"

I know. These girls have selfie sticks.

In this age, a selfie stick is a common equipment for

women.

I don't know how to use it but it should be simple.

"If that's the case, use mine. Mine is the longest, and you
can operate the camera using the stick itself."

Karin says while taking out her selfie stick.

At that moment, I saw the inside of her bag but there are
more textbooks than I expected.

I think she's more diligent than me.

"You know how to use this?"

Karen sets the smartphone to the selfie stick and handed it

to me

"Nope, not at all."

It's my first time holding a selfie stick.

As I hold it, I touch the controller and buttons that you can
operate with your thumb.

you want to switch from photo to video recording, then press

Handling it is simple.

"Got it."

I tried it on the spot.

It's easy to use, I can handle this.

"Both the smartphone and the selfie stick are expensive so

I placed the selfie stick in my back pocket.

I take out a cord from my bag and bind it to a trunk.

Arisa said as she watches me climb the tree quickly.

After that, Mana said something.

Since the girls started laughing out loudly after Mana said

I mutter to myself while climbing the tree.

I'd say that women are more pragmatic than men but it
sure is.

"There we go."

Finally, I reached the limit of where I can climb.

However, I can't see anything but foliage everywhere.

"And I'm glad I borrowed this selfie stick."

If I use this selfie stick, I can take photos above the leaves.

I hold the tree with my left arm and legs and push the
selfie stick with my right hand.

First is to take photographs, getting the peripheral view of

the area.

Also, let's use video mode just to make sure.

If I take this much material, I should be able to gather

some information.

I hear Mana's angry shout.

That said, I don't feel that much anger.

"I guess ninjas can't win against monkeys! Haha!"

Arisa joked and laughed.

"It's not time to joke around!"

I get down the tree in a hurry.

Then, down there are the girls.... and the monkey.

It's the monkey who took the selfie stick from me.

"Ukikiki!!"

The monkey clings to Mana's body and buried his face on

her breasts.

"What's going on?"

I'm the one surprised this time.

"Actually, I have this special skill where I get along with

animals."

Mana grins saying "Isn't that amazing?"

"Sure is, but I think that this guy opened up to you too
fast."

"And that's why it's a special skill."

"But, I never thought that the monkey would do what you

say."

Edie is impressed.

"W-Well, I'm glad that it wasn't stolen."

Oh geez. I sighed.

Then, I returned to the issue at hand.

"Okay, let's check the results."

 Chapter 05: Recording results

We checked the photos I took from Karin's smartphone.

The girls, the perverted monkey hugging Mana, and I look

from behind.

"This is...."

I muttered

"What's up?"

Mana asks.

The other girls wait for my answer.

"I don't think I see any settlement around. There are no

irregular patches of trees nor deforestation. If there's a
settlement, there should be some trees cut down. There's a
possibility that they use treehouse, but that's unlikely. If it is,
then they would live in the cave from earlier."

The photo shows a clean forest.

Smartphones these days are too efficient that you can get a
wide-angle of coverage.

Even so, there are no traces of civilization around.

"No good!"

Arisa hangs her head.

 The other three also have a clouded expression.

"It's not all in vain though."

Hearing that, the girls regained their brightness.

"Did you find something good?"

Eri asks.

I nodded. Then showed a photo.

"You can see the sea close by, right? That's a good
discovery."

This photo shows the sea.

The distance is about several hundreds of meters.

"Speaking of which, you said that you were looking for the
sea, Hokage."

Karin zoomed the image and shows the sea in the center.

It's a cutting-edge smartphone, and so we confirmed that

it's the sea.

"The sea has a lot of resources we need for living."

I confirmed it with the photo afterward.

Other than the sea, we didn't find anything.

"I wonder if there's a nearby island."

 Mana speaks with a gloomy voice.

Karen zoomed a long distance but we can't see other

islands.

Or so we thought.

"Wait, look, isn't that one an island?"

Arisa looked at another photo.

It's one of the photos of the sea I took.

"Which one? Where's the island?"

Mana asks.

"This one. Look at this dot."

Arisa leans on my right shoulder to look forward.

Then, her huge breasts touch my cheeks.

I'm grinning inside my mind, but....

"Ninja! You're in the way!"

Arisa pushed my face away.

I said "Oops", and moved sideways.

For a moment, my eyes met with Eri's.

"Look, this dot here, see? Isn't that an island?"

We looked at the dot Arisa's pointing.

I see it but it's too blurred that I don't know if it is.

"Can we make it easier to understand? Maybe we should go

to the sea to take photos."

"I think that you can see it if you change the brightness. I'll
try it"

Karin opens an editing app.

She used that and processed the image.

She edited the brightness, contrast, and all other stuff that I
don't know.

After doing that, the blurry dot becomes clear.

"Look! That's an island!"

Arisa speaks triumphantly.

The girls and I agreed.

The dot in the image is an island.

Although, we don't know if there are any buildings on the

island or not.

However, we can confirm that there's an island there.

"Hokage, is that a good find?"

Mana asks with a lively attitude.

 She called me 'Hokage' naturally.

I feel happy that she did. It's like she recognizes me.

"It's a good thing. Suppose that this is an uninhabited

island, that island might have some residents. If it doesn't, it
may have reception. If that's the case, we might be able to
contact anyone on the outside world."

"That means our chances of rescue will go up?"

"If this isn't an Isekai that is."

That was the loudest cheers from the girls today.

We started walking towards the beach.

I wanted to see the sea and the girls want to take photos if
there are islands on the other side.

"Is this mark good enough?"

Arisa makes marks on the trees replacing me whose arms

are fatigued.

"This is hard, isn't it? Are you sure that we need this?"

"This is all to make sure that we don't lose our sense of

direction."

Including me, the five of us all have compasses.

However, it's a compass app we have on our smartphones.

Once we run out of power on our phones, we can't use

them anymore.

"Why does Hokage have no compass even though you have

all the other tools? I don't know much about survival but
shouldn't compasses be one of the basics?"

Mana asks.

I show them a bitter smile.

"It's embarrassing to say but I forgot about it. Mana's right,

it's basic but I didn't think too much about it because of
smartphones. I feel embarrassed."

The compass on smartphones has the same use as the

analog one.

It uses the built-in magnetic sensors that you can use them
even without reception.

We moved southwest from the cave using this digital

compass.

I'm thankful that the river, the sea, and the cave are in the

If they're in opposite directions, we would be having a hard

time going from the river to the sea.

Everyone recalled that they have to preserve energy.
