1. Define Sustainable Tourism.

Sustainable Tourism refers to sustainable practices in and by the tourism industry. It is an

aspiration to acknowledge all impacts of tourism, both positive and negative. It aims to minimize
the negative impacts and maximize the positive ones.

Sustainable tourism is a concept that covers the complete tourism experience, including concern
for economic, social and environmental issues as well as attention to improving tourists'
experiences and addressing the needs of host communities.

2. What are the benefits of sustainability?

Sustainability supports the well-being of individuals and communities. Sustainability promotes a

better economy where there is little waste and pollution, fewer emissions, more jobs, and a better
distribution of wealth.

Sustainability is typically more associated with an organization’s holistic approach; it takes the
entire production process and logistics into consideration. For example, you may purchase a
green product made out of recycled goods. However, if that product was made overseas, and
environmentally harmful methods were used to transport that product to the United States, this
would not be adhering to sustainable principles.
