Application
SS307 produces a work hardening austentic deposit that is extremely tough and crack resistant. It is therefore suitable for build-up
and buffer applications and as a base for MN21, MN33 CS600 and other hardfacing products. SS307 can also be used for difficult
repairs in restrained structures and deep cavities in low alloy steel castings.

SS307 can be used for the surfacing of alloy rails and crossing points without preheat.

SS307 is suitable for welding dissimilar metals including mild steel, stainless hardenable and armour steels without preheating.
Weldments can be subject to a post weld heat treatment if necessary without signficiant loss of ductility. SS307 provides
reasonable resistance to scaling up to ~850°C but is not recommended for cryogenic application (<-50°C).

SS307 can be used to weld reclaim 135Mn (Hadfield) steels, as used in rock crushing plants and earth moving equipment.

Note: the product can also be used for submerged are welding in conjunction with Weldclad Universal flux.

Additional Information
This wire produces a crack free wear resistant deposit with a hardness in the range of 300-400Hv ( average hardness <350Hv). Rails
should be prepared by grinding out defects to a minimum of 4mm. A preheat of 250°C should be applied. The interpass temperature
should be maintained between 250-350°C. Welding should be carried ou using stringer bead or weave(20-25mm) technique

This weld metal can be machined to exact dimensions. Buttering layers are not normally required and large multi-run weldments can be
deposited without risk of cracking.

Additional Information

The deposit can not be machined or heat treated, but can be ground. Build up should be limited to a maximum of three layers. Cracking
of the deposit is normal and can be minimised by preheating to 250°C-450°C followed by slow cooling. For large build ups on low alloy
or 13%Mn steels SS307 should be used to give a work hardening buffer layer and prevent crack propagation into the base
