Al ter patlents were judaed to be nearly cured o f pneumonia, olfactory stlmulatlon by aroma therapywllh
black pepper essentlal oll was started as the flrst step. The second step was the additlonal appllcatlon of
capsalcln as troches or fllms three times, several days alter lhe start of aroma therll)y wlth black pepper oll.

The thlrd step was l)(ovldlng jelly that lnduded a menthol lngredlent lmenthol jeliy) as the flrst meal when
eatlng was resumed, ln addltlon to lhe capsalcln troches or films. lf patlents were able to swallow the
menthol Jelly safely, t hey were provided in a step-by-step manner wlt h the proper food texture such as
pureed food, minced food, ground food, chopped food, and modifled reaularfood depending on thelr ability
to swallow. Usina thls protocol, the lncldence o f pneumonia for 1 month from the start of oral lntake w as
one thlrd that w lthout the protocol.lmplementatlon of thls p,oiocol would help avold aastrostomv ln many
elderly people. ln addltlon, thl s protocol Is also appllcable to tralnlng to feed and rehabllltatlon from ali
