Mobile backhaul is at the heart of the operator’s network, providing connectivity between base
stations and the core network. Today’s mobile backhaul solutions are built utilizing both fiber
and microwave technology. Microwave radio is a data transmission method commonly used in
the telecommunications industry in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communication
systems in mobile backhaul.

Nokia has a strong partner ecosystem in the IP routing domain, and we have now built a
Microwave Backhaul Ecosystem of long-term collaboration partners for a true end-to-end
portfolio.

The increasing demand for data-intensive services and content such as video streaming and
mobile gaming requires a robust and cost-efficient backhaul solution.

Nokia helps operators respond to this demand with a microwave backhaul solution that offers
low latency and high throughput. Our solution includes a selection of certified partner products
with a range of capabilities that help tackle different implementation scenarios.

We can tailor our solutions based on unique operator needs and preferences for certain vendors
and technologies. Our partner products in the Microwave Transport area cover the entire
microwave spectrum from 2 GHz to 80 GHz.

With the partner ecosystem even very innovative solutions using non-line-of-sight technology
are available in a tested and certified manner.

Security and NetAct integration

Nokia’s partner ecosystem certification guarantees that our end-to-end solution has the same
standards for quality and security than our own products.

For easy operation and maintenance, all of the partner products in this solution are integrated
with our NetAct network management system.

DragonWave is a leading provider of high-capacity packet microwave solutions that drive next-
generation IP networks.

Together with DragonWave, Nokia offers a complete portfolio including non-line-of-sight

performance and high spectrum efficiency. One of the recent results of our technology
cooperation is a BTS transport plug-in card for zero footprint solutions. We also continue to
cooperate in the field of small cells.

NEC
NEC is a well established microwave supplier providing a full set of products in all the market
segments: traditional mobile backhaul, E-Band and V-Band.

Together with NEC, Nokia offers full menu of microwave radio technologies to address the
challenges of operators for high capacity, high efficiency and total cost of ownership reduction
from last mile to aggregation networks.

Together with SIAE MICROELETTRONICA, Nokia offers field proven microwave radio systems
suitable for backhauling any-G mobile network 2G/3G/4G, fitting for IP and TDM, as well as
high-speed LAN-to-LAN interconnections.

This solution covers all licensed microwave frequencies as well as millimeterwave bands.

Summary
Nokia is offering operators a one-stop shop for an end-to-end transport solution including
radio network and microwave backhaul technology. Operators can tailor their solution without
