NARRATIVE REPORT ON WASH IN SCHOOLS

INTRODUCTION:

Schools under the SPMS Box area are fortunate enough to be the recipients of the
handwashing facilities that were funded by the UNICEF. All of the eight (8) schools under Datu
Salibo District are recipients of the said project. One school which is the Sambulawan Central
Elementary School has almost finished or completed the said handwashing while three schools
have 50% accomplishments and 4 schools have yet to start the construction of the said project as
of this date.

ACTIVITIES:

School to school validation, assessment and monitoring to ensure the project will be well
implemented.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED:

The said project have gone through many challenges before it was implemented or
constructed in the different schools. Both natural and manmade calamities became the
challenges, the MBHTE personnel together with the school heads and the school nurse needed to
revalidate the school site to ensure the safety of the carpenters and the project as well and
fortunately all the problems encountered like safety of the carpenters, flood in the school site and
the way going to school have all been solved and the group find alternative ways just to push
through with the project.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Handwashing is an essential part in preventing the spread of certain diseases, thus,


putting up washing facilities in every school is a must. School heads should take good care of the
project that were given to them and they should find ways to sustain such project.
