INFORMATIVE ABOUT PUNO

Three million years old, the world's highest navigable lake is the natural border between

Peru and Bolivia and contains an unparalleled wealth of cultural, animal and plant life.

Titicaca lake has an origin as ancient as it is mysterious. Titicaca is the highest

navigable lake in the world with an average altitude of 3,812 meters above sea level,

and also the largest freshwater lake in South America.

Titicaca Lake means.

 Titi means cat or puma.


 kaka means stone.
 this is how the name of the titicaca lake is formed

Titicaca lake was considered a sacred place by the incas, who included it in the creation

of their civilization.

UBICATION

Titicaca lake is located in southeastern Peru and western Bolivia and is only 6 hours

from Cusco.

THE WEATHER

The climate is very hot during the day and very cold at night, you can visit at any time of

the year, but avoid visiting between June and August because it is very cold.

HOW TO GET THERE?

 you can go by bus and the price is 50 soles.


 You can also go by car and the price is 80 soles.

Tourists wishing to spend a night on Taquile Island can stay in the house of a local

family at very cheap prices, between 5 and 8 USD per night.

Tourists wishing to spend a night on the hotel can stay with their families at very cheap

prices, between 20 soles and 50 soles per night.
