Retno Wulandari was born in Sampang and is working as a Bank accountant. She was admitted
to the hospital because Vomited with headaches and diarrhea and high fever.she has often ate
late for the past 1 week. Retno wulandari was born in Sampang,march 3rd 1990. Retno wulandari
is married and her husband can be contacted at 087850505050. She has allergy to durian. And
family health Diabetic from her maternal grandparents. No smoking and alcohol intake recorded.

Chris, a si-year-old boy , complained of a sore throat and had a temperature of 38,6oC . His
mother kept him home from school and treated him with a proprietary pediatric painkiller. He
slept well but awoke with similar symptoms. His mother took him to their family doctor,
pyhsical examination showed reddening of the nasopharyngeal area and tonsils and a slight
enlargemant of the cervical iymph nodes. The skin was clear.
QUESTIONS
a. What are the most likely organisms causing this disease?
b. how could these organisms be detected ?
c. what treatment is desirable and why is this so?

Answer A
Strep throat is an infection of the throat and tonsils caused by bacteria called group A
streptococcus, also known as Streptococcus pyogenes. These bacteria live in the nose and throat.
You can catch the infection from someone who is sick with the strep A bacteria or carriers of the
bacteria

For the examination of S. pyogenes bacteria can be enforced by culture examination and
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique. This study aims to detect S. pyogenes bacteria
from pediatric patients suffering from tonsillopharyngitis using the Polymerase Chain Reaction
(PCR) technique.
