TITLE: BUT WHY?

(Ardini was at home, alone…….)

Ardini: Hurmmm, Physics.. done. History..done. What else?..ahah, yeah.. two more
homework are not done yet. These two are peanuts because the teachers are
very sporting. They don’t normally scold me…ooopppss.
: Oh noooo…..It’s so bored. Staying at home all the time.
: I want to go out. WHO SHOULD I CALL?.......GHOSTBUSTERS…. Nahhhh,
that’s in the movie.
: Let me see…What about…. Amy? Yes, yes my bff… Amy.
(Ardini dialed Amy’s number……)
Amy: Oh hello Ardini. Anything?
Ardini: Hi Amy.
Are you busy now?
Amy: No. Not really. Why do you ask?
Ardini: That’s great. Let’s do something because… I feel so bored.
Amy: What’s on your mind?
Ardini: Why don’t we go sight-seeing ….near the padi field?

whenever we go out.
Amy: Then why are you not wearing one?
Ardini: Well, I don’t feel like wearing one now.
Besides there are no police around.
Amy: But we wear the mask for our own good. We don’t wear it because of the
police.
Ardini: Yeah..yeah..yeah. I know. Huh,.. you‘re worse than my mum.
Amy: Oh Ardini. You know that it’s good to wear the mask. So please… wear… the
mask
Ardini: Okay, okay. Let’s go, Amy.
(Ardini turned back and saw that Amy was not following her…..)
Ardini: Now, what’s the problem?
Amy: You said you wanted to wear the mask. But….(pointing her finger to Ardini’s
face)
Ardini: Can you stop nagging me? Come on, let’s go.
Amy: But you have not put on your mask
Ardini: Ah well. I’ll wear it shortly. Are you going or not?
Amy: Yes, I do. I want to go with you
Ardini: Then, why are you like a statue there?
Amy: I want to see you…wear your mask first. Otherwise…. I’m staying put
Ardini: Oh no Amy. Are you serious?
Amy: Yes, I am. I don’t want you to be fined by the police.
Ardini: Oh dear. Amy…Amy…Amy. Can you see, can you actually see any
policemen around here?
Amy: No… Not yet… Yeah, not here. What about later?
Ardini: Well, that’s why I said I’ll wear it later.

Aileen: Hi girls
(The girls didn’t hear someone was calling them….)
Aileen: Hi Amy. …Hi Ardini.

Ardini: Oh hi, Aileen
Amy: Hi Aileen
Aileen: Hi girls. What’s the commotion about?
Ardini: This Amy. She is always nagging me
Amy: Excuse me. No… I wasn’t nagging you.
Aileen: Okay, okay. Cool it girls.
Well, Amy, why did Ardini say that you nag her?
Amy: No, I didn’t nag her. I was just reminding her to wear her face mask.
Aileen: Oh, I see.
(Aileen turned to Ardini)
Aileen: So what’s the problem Ardini?
Ardini: No, no, no problem. No problem at all. Look, it’s not that I didn’t want o
wear it. I was going to do it a little later
Aileen: You know that we have to wear the mask because of this pandemic, right?
Ardini: Yes, of course I know.
Aileen: Then why didn’t you want to wear it?
Ardini: As I’ve said. I wanted to wear it a little later.
Amy: In this pandemic it’s very risky not to wear the mask especially when you go
outside.
Aileen: Yup. There have been so many cases lately. It has been increasing day by
day. The newspaper says that they are due to the public. They do not adhere
to the SOP for covid19.
Ardini: SOP?
Aileen: Standard Operating Procedures, S..O…P.
Things that the public need to do, people like you and me, in dealing with
covid19.
Ardini: How come you know so much about covid19?
Aileen: The Internet girls. The information is just a click away.
Amy: Do you know that covid19 is transmitted through droplets
Ardini: Droplets?
Amy: You know, when you sneeze or cough or even breathe. These small droplets
can easily get to persons whose distance is less than 1meter.
Ardini: Ooo, now I can see the reason why wearing a face mask is important. And
why you have been nagging me on wearing one.
Amy: Yes, call it whatever you like. This bff loves you so much. That’s why.
Ardini: Yes my bff.
The mask is our second line of protection from covid19 when someone is too
close to us.
Aileen: That’s right. The face mask protects us from getting the covid19 virus.
Ardini: Yeah, yeah, I know. I know. I am so sorry for being stubborn. I didn’t realize
that it is that serious.
Aileen: Hurmmm. That’s a good sign. The bff shines.
Ardini: I’m so sorry for behaving as such. Let’s hug. A biggg hug.
Amy: Ah..ah…nah…remember mask on, distance on, sanitise on
Ardini: Hahahaha… yeah..yeaahh.. new normal of hug. (palm to the chest and bow)
Amy: I’m sorry too. I wouldn’t do anything to harm my friends, what more to a
bff.
Aileen: Okay girls. I have to go. See you on online classes tomorrow.

SYNOPSIS
Three best friends Ardini, Amy and Aileen tried to cope with new normal during Covid-19
pandemic.
Amy had a tough time to persuade her best friend forever, bff Ardini to wear a face mask when
they were going out. Ardini on the other hand, had a lot of excuses not to wear it. As Amy was
running out of ideas, their other friend, Aileen came to the rescue.
This sketch is to raise awareness and educate students on what covid19 is and how they can take
actions to deal with the pandemic.
