Active site is the region of the enzyme which its substrate binds to to catalyse the reaction.

(b) Explain enzyme-substrate specificity.

Enzyme-substrate specificity is the idea that each enzyme is compatible with just one substrate.
This is because the charge and shape of the active site of enzymes can only specifically fit
one type of substrate.

5. Describe the use of biotechnology in the production of lactose-free milk.

Milk containing lactose is poured through a tube of alginate balls to produce lactose-free milk.
Alginate balls contain lactase, which is an enzyme that hydrolyses lactose into glucose
and galactose. By pouring milk through alginate balls, lactase break down lactose, and the
product is lactose-free milk, which contains glucose and galactose instead of lactose.
