understand the way a sentence is arrange, grammatically.
B. Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to apply the sentence patterns in
writing sentences

◊ Psychomotor: To apply the basic sentence patterns in sentence constructions
◊ Affective: To express the importance of grammatically correct sentences in

IV. Procedure
a. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
- Group Game: Review of the Parts of Speech (The teacher will flash words/phrases
on screen. Each group must guess what part of speech the word/phrase is. The
group with the most number of correct answer wins.
b. Establishing a purpose of the lesson
- In this lesson, you will identify the basic sentence patterns and apply them in
sentence constructions.
c. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
- Explain what sentence pattern means (As a learner of the English language, you
must be familiar with these patterns to understand the language more.
d. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

-Present a PPT Presentation about basic sentence patterns


a. Subject + Intransitive Verbs

Examples:

An alarm clock sounded

The visitors have arrived.

WHAT IS AN INTRANSITIVE VERB?

- An action verb which do not have an object receiving the action


b. Subject + Transitive Verb + Direct Object

WHAT IS A TRANSITIVE VERB?

- An action verb with a direct object is called a transitive verb.

WHAT IS A DIRECT OBJECT?

- A direct object is affected by the action of the main verb

Examples: Oliver reads the short story

Liza will drive the car.

Examples:

The tourist guide handed her a picture

The historian told his audience his autobiography

WHAT IS AN INDIRECT OBJECT? –The indirect object identifies the person/thing for
whom the action is being performed

Identify the sentence pattern and its parts on the following sentence (board walk):

1. I laughed.

2. The book fell.

3. He rode the bicycle.

4. He was reading his daughter a story
