 Louis vicat due to the scarcity of the media had to investigate new
mortars based on quicklime, thus giving the diversity of mortars for
each type of structure. (1)

 Louis Vicat, a young Civil Engineer, did not limit himself when he
was commissioned by Napoleon, in 1812, to build the Souillac bridge
over the Dordogne river. A violent river, with strong floods from the
melting waters, and with a sandy bottom in which it is difficult to settle

 His son joseph vicat, following in the footsteps of his father, founded
the cement company "vicat" in 1853. (3)

 Louis Vicat mixes limestone with clay, cooks them together, grinds

days, the mixture hardens when combined with water. Louis Vicat had
just made a capital discovery for Humanity. (3)
