• It is recommend that the EIS web pages are checked for the latest version of this
checklist prior to commencing the installation.
• It is assumed that the installation is carried out with the help of the current
EIS-DVD. See EIS web pages for current information and status.
• The idea behind this check list is to help the installer achieve a "good" installation.
• It is assumed that the installer has attended the appropriate training classes.
• It is not intended that this checklist be handed over to the customer.
• This switch is capable of Access Gateway mode. To enable/configure, please see
the Access Gateway Administrators guide located on the Brocade Partner site.

• Brocade USB Flash Drives are available to backup configuration and switch logs.

• The Brocade 6520 supports Integrated Routing. See the appropriate FOS Admin
Guide found at http://my.brocade.com. The Brocade 6505 does not support
Integrated Routing.

PREPARATION
For an overview of the activities carried out during the installation of this
product via the EIS Methodology, refer to the EIS-Deliverables page within
the EIS website for the Brocade 300/5300/6505/6510/6520/7800 & DCX-
8510 Switches.

Examine the Switch Firmware Patch Matrix in MOS Document ID
1507746.1 to determine the current supported firmware for the switch.
The firmware update patch is on EIS-DVD-TWO in directory
.../sun2/patch/SAN-SWITCH; at the time this version of the checklist was
published the patch was:
• Patch 152655-01 with Brocade FOS v8.1.0 firmware is on EIS-DVD
≥24FEB17.
Alternatively the update can be obtained from My Oracle Support (MOS) site
(do this before going onsite due to size of file):
1. Go to https://support.oracle.com/ & sign in,
2. Click on the Patches & Updates tab (on the top),
3. In the Patch Search box on the right side, click on Product or Family
(Advanced Search),
4. There are two required fields:
1. In the Product field enter Brocade 6505 Switch and select as
appropriate.
2. In the Release field select the same as for Product.
5. Click Search.
6. A new screen will appear with the Patch Search Results. This will be a
list of ALL firmware patches for the switch. Scroll down to select the
latest (with highest patch number & version) & click on the
corresponding Patch Name.
7. Download the file – currently 1.3 GB in size.
The result will be a file of the form: 152655-01.zip.
This will be required for the actions on page 4 of this checklist.
