EN 1 3042-1 :2007+A1 :2009 (E)

Introduction
This European Standard is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 1 21 00-1 .
The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indi-
cated in the scope of this European Standard.
When compiling this European Standard, it was assumed that the existing ad-hoc standards for components are
applied.
When provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards, the pro-
visions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards for machines that have
been designed and built according to the provisions of this type C standard.

guards are removed.

5.7 Lockout of shears

The closing movement of the shears shall be able to be prevented by a mechanical restraint device (see 3.26.7 of
EN ISO 1 21 00-1 :2003) or by the possibility to cut off the driving energy directly at the shears (see 7.2.7).

5.8 Hydraulic/pneumatic system

The hydraulic/pneumatic system shall be designed according to EN 982 and EN 983. Ducts with high pressure
(above 50 bar), hoses and separable joints with hydraulic liquid and lubricants shall be covered preventing liquid
from spreading to workplaces. The dangerous inflammation shall be avoided by the use of fire-resistant hydraulic
fluids (see Annex A of EN 982:1 996).

5.9 ! Electrical equipment

All electrical equipment shall conform to the requirements of EN 60204-1 in particular with regard to the protection
