What is Bosch doing to protect the environment?

Environmental management to ISO 14001 at all manufacturing sites
• Heat recovery
• Reduction of water consumption / waste
• Power-saving measures
• Use of solvents phased out
• Similar requirements made of suppliers

Some 45 percent of our research and

development expenditure goes into
products that protect the environment and
conserve resources. In 2008 alone, this
amounted to more than 1.5 billion euros.

Crystalline Product Segment – Solar Cells

 Products: Multi- und monocrystalline solar cells with high efficiencies of
up to 17.5% (mono) and 16% (multi);  currently approximately 90%
share of monocrystalline cells
 Bosch Solar Energy monocrystalline cells are widely recognized as
some of the most efficient on the market; monocrystalline cells perform Bosch Solar Cell
better compared to same size multicrystalline cells (higher efficiency) M 3BB

 Very good low-light performance due to deployment of high quality laser

for edge isolation
 Industry-leading cost-performance ratio with strong focus on cost
degression thanks to progress in technology, integrated business model
and economy of scale. Cell thickness of ~ 180 μm and below for
maximum silicon yields
