I. Background of the Author

Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855) was born in Yorkshire, England, on, an e of six

children born to Patrick Bronte and his n impoverished country clergyman, and his wife, Maria
who died when Charlotte was young. Charlotte and his sisters were sent to Cowan Bridge School
for Clergyman’s Daughters, where she endured the harsh conditions that killed her two eldest
sisters. Charlotte and her younger sister, Emily, returned home just in time to save their lives.
Isolated on the edge of the Yorkshire moors, Charlotte and her three surviving siblings
transformed Reverend Bronte’s parsonage into their own private literary community.

Charlotte was later sent to a far more humane school than Cowan Bridge and was
eventually recruited to the teaching staff. She later served in a series of dreary governess before
she was able to study at finishing school in Brussels. When she returned to England, recovering
from an unrequited passion for her professor, she “discovered” her sister Emily poems. She
arranged a joint publication in 1846 of poems by Currer, Ellis and action Bell (the pseudonyms of
Charlotte and sisters Emily and Anne ). Though this sold a disappointing two copies, the
publication of Jane Eyre in 1847 achieved immediate success, and stirred much speculation about
the identity of “Currer Bell.” Though she eventually revealed her identity, Charlotte was not able
to enjoy her new found fame. Her brother, Branwell, and sisters, Emily and Anne, all died in
quick succession, leaving Charlotte and her father as the only survivors of the Bronte clan. She
persevered by writing Shirley (1849 and Villette (1853). In 1854 she married her father’s curate
Arthur Bell Nichols, but died just a few months later.

The theme of the entire story entitled Jane Eyre authored by Charlotte Bronte was all
about an unconventional love story that revolutionized the scope of romantic kind of fictional
story. This novel has also a theme of woman who try to fight her woman’s right and self-respect
in the society because, if you are trying to read critical and analysed the whole novel you will
notice that the main character is trying to escape and find a freedom and true respect in the
society where she belongs.

It also reflects in the story the woman independent. The main character in the story

X. Conclusion

After I read the entire novel I can say that this novel has a great story because, of the
connection of the story from a real life situation. For instance the hardship of every orphan in the
hand of their aunt, because there are some orphan who experience unkindness in the hand or
of their aunt. This novel has also big impact to my beliefs and perceptions in my life because,
when I read this novel my perceptions change like before, I never mind the hardship and feeling
of some orphan that are living with their cruel relatives because, I don’t experience it but, after I
read it I realized that there are some orphan who experiencing unkindness and unluckiness in the
hand of their relatives. I also admire the attributes that the main character has in this novel
because, that’s the best attitude that every woman must have, like being strong and mature
enough to face all the struggles in life. The main character portrays her role great and .

I also admire the author’s creativeness in writing this kind of novel. Her novel is very
inventive because, of the script that was used and seen in the entire novel. The author gives and
narrates a meaningful story that gives and implies messages to the readers. The author did a great
job and I give complements for the success of this wonderful novel. This novel is not easy to sort
out and finish but the author is very enthusiastic to write and finish this novel. I valued his
dedication in order to finish this novel.

I am proudly recommending to all people especially to all bookworms to read this kind of
novel because of great messages that the author wants to imply. The novel also makes the readers
have a self-realization after their read this. I am proudly saying that this novel has a high rating
quality for me.

I really appreciate the essence of this story. Every line of the character specifically the
main character in this novel gives a justice for what she portrays or role in the novel. The accent
and words that she used make her fit to the character not only Jane but I must say that all the
character in this novel.
I have few suggestions and comments particularly to the author, I have noticed that there
are some words that is much difficult to understand compare to other novels but then,I understand

because this novel is an example of old English novel but maybe some author can revise or what I
am trying to say is to translate it to more easier to understand the meaning of each words so that
there are so many people will encourage to read this novel, that only my suggestions.
