Sludge height is taken in 3 areas only and not as a whole, floating roof is currently tilted and sludge height can be either
more or less; bottom sludge under roof is considered as per the pontoon height which can accommodate also sludge.
Given:
Oil Density: 920 kg/m3
Sludge density shall be higher than that of the oil; for this calculation we will use oil density for comparison purposes.
Tank Diameter: 22.6 meters
Sludge Ht: 750 mm + 200 mm = 950 mm
CALCULATION:
Ρ=m/v ; Formula No. 1
Where:
Ρ= Crude oil Density (kg/m3)
M= mass of crude oil (kg)
V= Volume of crude oil
Calculate Crude Oil Volume inside tank
Volume = π(r)2 x h ; Formula No. 2
Volume = 3.1416 (11.3)2 x 0.95
Volume of Crude Oil = 381.03 m3
Substitute the Volume to Formula No. 1 to get the Sludge
Weight in tons; Roof Sludge
(750 mm) Floating Roof
Clean out
920 = m / 381.03
m = 920 x 381.03 ; m3 x kg/m3 ; Kg `
m = 350,547.6 Kg or 350.4576 Tons
Bottom Roof
Sludge
(Est 200 mm)
Qty of Tanker required:
Tanker Capacity = 30 m3
Tanker Qty = Crude oil Volume / Tanker Capacity
Tanker Qty = 12.7 or 13 tankers
Days to Empty the tanker
1 tanker can fill in max 2 days (current condition of shoveling inside tank to hose)
13 tanker x 2 days filling = 26 days or 1 month.
