1) How much time in a day do you spend on social media?

 Compare it with
the time you spend with your family.
 I am very inclined in using social media. I tend to believe that social media
helps me a lot in terms of learning, studying, researching and finding
information. It can be easily influenced to me. Due to my curiosity, I want to
explore or try what is new and trending to be able to fit into the society. In
today’s pandemic, the time I spent in social media increased. I have too
much exposure in social media and I spent every hour in my smartphone. I
believe that I spent more time in social media that I spent with my family.
Most often media can bring forth negative interaction or zero interaction
between my siblings and my parents. It starves me of learning and modeling
with each other social cues, interpersonal relationship skills, communication
skills, and bonding. As I overuse social media, I am social by nature and
crave bonding within relationships. I may feel that I am connected through
social media, but it strips me of my ability to hear and see verbal and
nonverbal messages.
2) Are you affected or influenced by media? If yes, as to what extent has
it affected or influenced you?
 Yes, I am influence and affected by social media. I get encouraged and
motivated to learn. Educational videos on YouTube, I use to watch
educational videos, easy access to e-books, online notes, learning via video
calling are some of the major aspects which contribute to educational
development it Enhances my creative element. Social media helps in
enhancing my creative skills by allowing me to learn and later execute the
same by doing it themselves. Social Media platforms help me improving my
social skills, writing skills which helps in achieving my educational pursuits.
Using social media, I take an interest in news media and I tend more likely
to be interested in major social and political issues. Social media encourage
me to become more involved as citizens in our community.

3). Generally, how has media affected or influenced Filipino culture today?


- Social media platforms have allowed Filipino promoting culture through social
media to reach out and share what they know, giving a glimpse of our culture to
people all around the world. By doing this, diversity and inclusion are promoted
and celebrated. Social media has been a major part of our daily lives. It totally
effected our culture in positive and negative ways. There are so many positive
impacts of social media on our culture. Social media increased the connections
between people and created an environment in which you can share your opinions,
pictures and lots of stuff. Social media improved creativity and social awareness
for our society by interacting with other people and sharing new ideas and
opinions.  On the other hand, social media has influenced our culture in negative
ways. People can share whatever they want to on social media and some of them
might be inappropriate pictures.  People has become more conservative about each
other’s point of view. People started to argue about each other’s perspective related
to political view, religion, social rights and culture. Social media has become
increasingly popular components of our everyday life in today’s globalizing
society. It provides a context where people across the world can communicate,
exchange messages, share knowledge, and interact with each other regardless of
the distance that separates them. Intercultural adaptation involves the process of
promoting understanding through interaction to increase the level of fitness so that
the demands of a new cultural environment can be met.

4). What can you say about Philippine politics today with the
active participation of social media?
- The Internet is expected to have a significant impact on many aspects of our lives
in the future. By social media already enable people throughout the world to access
huge amounts of information on almost any conceivable topic, to find others with
similar interests and discuss relevant issues, and to make information available to
other people at minimal cost. Likewise, the social media could also have an
increasing, but unpredictable impact on the way in which political organizations
and individuals communicate their messages to citizens, and may profoundly
change the way in which citizens participate in the political process The social
media may also change the way in which political groups and politicians conduct
election campaigns, keep in touch with constituents, and forge alliances with other
groups or individuals. Social media may also enable small groups with limited
resources to participate in the political process.
