Trunk House by Paul Morgan Architects

“Home is not a place… it’s a feeling.” There is nothing more important than having a good and
secure home. Home is where you were raised. Home is an environment worth cherishing. This Trunk
House by Architect Paul Morgan that used the forms of ecology to build am abode. A small habitat
connected to forest and closeness to nature. This abode was inspired by old bones found on farmlands,
which led them to utilize local wood that had natural splits in their formation.

The house is built around a central column that has beams radiating from it. The color
combination were rustic elements with modern and clean lines on the interior. The triangulated truss
system attaining great inherent strength. The concept of this tiny abode has its own character and
relates the experience of being in a forest. Stringybark trees were removed from the site to make a new
one. It is also pro-environment because it has minimal carbon footprint. Architect Morgan considered
the users of the house both who have medical backgrounds that wanted to have a small weekender.

The trusses served as the rock-solid foundation as this is the meaning of “home” for me. Home
and the triangular strength of the cabin signifies each other. Our home molds us. It helps us to change
and teach. My foundation will always sit firmly with the environment and with the people who helped
me go through a lot. Also, living in a cabin surrounded by the environment is so great. It feels natural
and raw. It has the open doors for deep thinking and realizations. In this fast-pacing world, all I want to
wish is to live slowly and sustainably connected to the nature. Slow-living in a quiet and secure house is
enough to be called as a rock-solid foundation for your soul.
