1. Explain the roles of Gerontological Nurse as:


 Provider of care:
- Gives direct, hands-on care to older adults in a variety of setting

 Teacher/ Educator:
- Organize and provides instructions on healthy aging, disease detection,
treatment and rehabilitation to older patients and families
- Gerontological nurses focus their teaching on modifiable risk factors and
health promotion

 Manager:
- Gerontological nurses act as managers during everyday practices as they
balance the concerns of the patient, family, nursing and the rest of the
interdisciplinary team
- Plans and coordinate the care of older adults
- Skillful in terms of time management, building relationship, communication,
organization and assertive

 Advocate:
- The gerontological nurse acts on behalf of older adulrs to promote their best
interests and strengthen their autonomy and decision making

 Research Consumer:
- Gerontological nurses must remain abrest of current research literature,
reading and putting into practice results of realible and valid studies
participates on research studies

2. Choose one competency guidelines for geriatric nursing care and explain.
- Recognize one’s own and others’ attitudes, values and expectations
about aging and their impact on care of older adults and their families.
- Respect one of aspect about aging and their impact on care of adults and
their families because we have different beliefs, values and care that might
misunderstand of other people who is not same with others. We need to be
more open and choose to accept every advices mostly in the professional
that might help us to our problems about this topic.
