Activity: NORTH-SOUTH RELATIONSHIP

Instructions: Search for a newspaper or magazine caricature that illustrates your answer to the question,
“Are the Global North and Global South dependent on one another?” Cut or print the selected
caricature then paste it below. Write a short explanation about it.

MANY OF PEOPLE IN THE GLOBAL SOUNTH FACES POVERTY, WAR AND TYRANNY. Problems that the
Global South face reduces their productivity, and hinders their economic growth. Fossil fuel usage is still
the main source of income in the Global South, due to its easy sell and high demands. Economic growth
is the main channel through which globalization can affect poverty. What researchers have found is that,
in general, when countries open up to trade, they tend to grow faster and living standards tend to
increase. The usual argument goes that the benefits of this higher growth trickle down to the poor.
